4 BELONGING TO THE BODY FEATURE MEMBERSHIP MINISTRIES Anyone familiar with basic anatomy recognizes that the human body is designed in such a way that every part contributes to the good of the whole. It follows that when everything is functioning properly, even the smallest and most inconspicuous members make a meaningful contribution. Similarly, every Christian has a vital role in the body of Christ. Every true believer belongs to a body of believers that are connected to Christ and carrying out His purposes in the world. The apostle Paul reminds us that we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another (Romans 12:5). Thus, it is impossible to belong to Christ and not belong to His people. Similarly, we cannot serve Christ without serving His people. So at Grace Community Church we want every believer who belongs to Christ to be practically connected to His people. Indeed, our membership in the body is first and foremost a positional reality. But our Lord intends for our position in Christ to impact our practice for Christ, and one of the first practical steps any believer can take is to commit to join a local church just like this one. You may wonder what belonging to a local body involves or what church membership looks like. Feel free to stop by the Member Center after any service today to find out more. We offer classes the first three Sundays of every month to help believers get connected to this local representation of the body of Christ, and all of this starts at the Member Center. If you ve delayed becoming a member here at Grace Church, don t wait another day! Become what Christ has made you to be a functional member of His body here on earth. 6 HIGHLIGHTS Faith Promise Fruit Your Faith Promise giving helps support biblical training centers and seminaries around the world. For example, the Word of Grace Biblical Seminary (WGBS) in Mexico City was established in 1999 to train national pastors in expository preaching. Grace Church missionary Luis Contreras, a professor at WGBS, recently wrote about the current semester. This fall, there are 200 students being trained in Mexico City and our six extension campuses in El Salvador; North, Center, and South Mexico City; Manzanillo, (on the west coast of Mexico); and Nogales (in Sonora, Mexico). We have eight faculty members and seven additional adjunct faculty teaching in these locations. We praise the Lord for His grace in providing these opportunities and ask you to pray for His ongoing sustaining power for all the students, graduates, and professors. Grace Around the World Cecil & Kathy Stalnaker Serving since 1978 Prayer / Praise Pray for wisdom for Cecil as he works with the next generation of missionaries for cross-cultural missions both in Europe and more remote parts of the world. Praise God for the twenty-two teams that have come together since 2012 and are now actively working at making disciples in twenty-two key urban areas of Europe. Faith Promise So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Romans 10:17 Last week you generously gave $9,060. Thank you for your ongoing support of our missionaries and their ministries around the world. Local Outreach Spotlight Visitor Outreach Every Sunday, our church is honored to welcome first-time visitors. During the following week, our visitor outreach team connects with each visitor who submitted a registration card. They thank our guests for visiting, attempt to answer any questions they may have, and offer to help them get plugged into Grace Church. These calls can be a great opportunity to proclaim the gospel. Team members also invite the visitors back to church, offering to host them during the services, with the goal of building discipleship relationships with them. For more information call
