4 FEATURE DISPLAYING THE GIFT OF GOD S SAVING GRACE In his book, The Brokenhearted Evangelist, Jeremy Walker writes, Only an unusual child who has been given some great gift is able to keep the news, enjoyment, and display of that gift to himself. You can be sure that they will take their gift to their friends; their joy is not full unless it has been shared. The reality of their experience of receiving is manifested by the way in which they display that gift and their gratitude for it, to anybody and everybody whom they can reach. As Christians, we have been given the greatest gift of all salvation from sin and reconciliation with God. And we understand that our joy in that indescribable gift is not made full unless it has been shared. As sinners saved by such a glorious gospel, we instinctively desire to show off the gift we ve received to anybody and everybody we can reach. We know that desire exists within our church family. Because of that, we want to make you aware of the more than two dozen local outreach ministries that proclaim the gospel throughout Los Angeles. Take a moment to review the ministry opportunities listed below, and prayerfully consider joining us as we joyfully display the indescribable gift of God s saving grace to our community. EQUIPPING Sign up to attend a Fundamentals of the Faith or Grace Evangelism class. Pursue training in order to teach a Fundamentals of the Faith or Grace Evangelism class. Take advantage of the books, tracts, and gospel message CDs available at the Local Outreach Table on the patio. Attend, or accompany a friend to, the Hope Bible study, which ministers to those beset by life-dominating sins. EVANGELISM Spend a Sunday afternoon with the neighborhood outreach group as they take the gospel to our neighbors. Preach the gospel to or do one-on-one counseling with inmates in local prisons (Pitchess Detention Center; Men s Central Jail), with attendants at a local drug and alcohol rehab center (Antelope Valley

5 LOCAL OUTREACH MINISTRIES Rehabilitation), or with participants in a Christian sober-living facility (the Bible Tabernacle). Participate in worship services and personal evangelism at a local assisted-living facility. Play a game of volleyball and/or basketball with our neighbors in our state-of-the-art gymnasium. Compete in a God-honoring way while building relationships, and discuss the halftime gospel presentation while waiting for the next game to start. Join a team that travels to Skid Row and proclaims the gospel to the homeless. to the hungry. Also participate in Grace Church s yearly Food-Pak drive for CHF. Volunteer at the Open Arms Pregnancy Clinic as they seek to proclaim the gospel to and counsel abortion-minded women and men. Participate in the Walk for Life and Baby Bottle fundraisers that support the OAPC. EMPATHY Volunteer at Children s Hunger Fund, an organization which comes alongside local churches across the world to provide food ETHNIC In addition to our thriving Spanish Ministry, Grace Church also has Bible studies that reach out to the Arabic, Filipino, Italian, Korean, Russian, and Thai communities that offer teaching and fellowship in those languages.
