1 Parish Mission Statement Immaculate Conception Catholic Church celebrates the Eucharist and proclaims the gospel in worship, through our love of God and for each other, and with our ministry to the marginalized. We journey together in our faith, united by our trust in Christ s love and mercy and the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Staff Connection... Immaculate Conception Church Alleluia! April 1, 2018 Alleluia! The Lord is truly risen Alleluia, Alleluia! Easter joys fills the whole world on the first day of the week. Victory is the message of the risen Lord to his disciples. What a day of glory is this day of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior! What joy, what confidence rings through the world on Easter morning! This great morning the women are privileged to bring the world the best news it has ever heard. Resurrection is an event that answers all questions: pain, suffering, failure, betrayal, despair, and above all death! Resurrection is the central point of all history, it the climax of all the faithful: Christ the Lord has risen from the dead. In the Gospel reading, there is a sudden change of tempo when Mary saw the empty tomb. Life flares up again. From the very early morning of Easter, God has signaled a new dawn. God announces to the world that death has been defeated forever. This is the very reason everyone is full of excitement and amazement. Mary of Magdala went to Simon Peter, running to share the Good News. Peter, on the other hand, set out with the other disciples to go to the tomb to ascertain the news. On arrival, they were confronted by the signs of death: some empty tomb and clothes, but they did not see Jesus still they were ready to believe in the victory of life over death. The Apostles were the first-hand witnesses of the resurrection of our Lord. Can we be witnesses too? Yes! First, we must undergo our own experience of resurrection. When have we gone from death to life? In Baptism. We can say that from the time we were Baptized onwards with the help of God s grace, our life changed. We died to our old life and embraced a new life in Christ Jesus. What are some the concrete signs of the risen life? Love. Joy. Hope. Faith. Service.. What matters now, after death has been swallowed up? Nothing! Thanks be to God. The risen Lord comes to us today in the Eucharist to unite Himself with us and prepare us for our own resurrection. He did promise whoever eats my flesh and drink my blood will not die and I will raise him on the last day Jn 6:54 Many thanks for joining us for Easter Mass. Happy Easter! Reports are still coming in...but local 40 Days for Life leaders tell us that as of now, they re aware of 490 babies in 354 locations around the world whose mothers have rejected abortion and chosen life! In many cases, all it took was the simple act of showing up to pray on the sidewalk. Our presence on the sidewalk DOES save lives. The Ithaca team continues every Friday morning, 8:30 10am.
