Great CDs are available at the CD kiosk located at the back corner of the church check them out LENTEN REGULATIONS All Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence. Fasting regulations those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to FAST one full meal a day is allowed with two lesser meals and only liquids in-between meals. Abstinence regulations those 14 years of age and older are obliged not to eat meat on the days appointed. (If, due to medical reasons, you cannot fast, the regulation does not apply to you.) What is the original meaning of the word "Lent"? A) Prayer B) Strength C) Family D) Spring 2. How many days are there in Lent? A) 15 days B) 40 days C) 46 days D) 1 day First Sunday of Lent We are all tempted. The Gospel for this first Sunday of Lent uses images to show how Jesus was challenged to be faithful to His Father. Sometimes we may feel somewhat upset at the thought that Jesus had doubts like us, that he found difficulty in fulfilling his mission. We are afraid of allowing Jesus to come down to our level. But God was not put off by our own misery. He entered into it by taking on flesh; defeating sin and temptation through his death and resurrection. During these 40 days of Lent we are to reflect on the many ways God is calling each one of us to confront our own temptations with faith and courage. There are so many evil proposals out there awaiting us each and every moment of our lives especially when we are most vulnerable. These earthly proposals are aimed at taking us away from the course prepared for us by our heavenly Father. Where do these temptations came from? From our own environment, from friends, family, co-workers, our bosses, from the media/electronics, from the political sphere. If temptations happened to Jesus the Son of God, they will happen to us as well. The Holy Spirit who will give us strength is in us, and Jesus stands besides us. May this Lent help us to turn way from sin and turn to God for His love and Mecy Hope for Climate Action: A New Bi-Partisan Bill To Reduce Fossil Fuel Use The Interfaith Climate-Justice Action Network (ICAN) invites you to a presentation on a federal bill with bipartisan support that will address climate change, called the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. The US Catholic Bishops Conference has already praised the bill calling it a hopeful sign that more and more, climate change is beginning to be seen as a crucial moral issue. Join us on Tuesday March 19 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm (refreshments at 6:45pm) at the Quaker Meeting House 120 Third Street, Ithaca to learn more. Birthright of Ithaca is still looking for a downstairs office space. We require a space that is downstairs with a bathroom on the same level, downtown, and at least 650 square feet.
