3 St. Denis - St. Columba School REGISTRATION OPEN We are now accepting new registrations for the school year. If you are interested in giving your child the gift of a Catholic Education, or would like more information about our school, please call the school office at or check out our school website at: TODAY, we will take up the Collections for the Church in Latin America and the Catholic Home Missions. Your gifts will fund catechesis, youth ministry programs and seminarian education in Latin America. Also, dioceses right here in America do not have enough priests and trained lay ministers to serve their parishes. Your donations will support these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be generous in this appeal and share your resources to strengthen the Church at home and abroad. St. Vincent DePaul Back to School Supply Drive It is time to start our Back to School, School Supply Drive. If you are interested in donating school supplies, we are in need of: pens, pencils, crayons, folders, tissues, glue sticks, wide ruled loose leaf paper, spiral notebooks ( wide ruled only ), scissors, pencil boxes, rulers, erasers, back packs, lunch boxes, and any other school supplies you may think of. We will offer a special blessing for them at the end of all Masses next weekend, August 9th & 10th. NEW BISHOPS FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has appointed three priests of the Archdiocese of New York to serve as Auxiliary Bishops to Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York. They are: Bishop - elect John Jenik, 70, currently the pastor of Our Lady of Refuge Parish in the Bronx, Bishop - elect John O Hara, 68, currently directing the archdiocesan planning process Making All Things New and former pastor of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Parish on Staten Island, and Bishop - elect Peter Byrne, 62, currently the pastor of St. Elizabeth Parish in Manhattan, all bring many years of experience as pastors to their new roles as bishops. Cardinal Dolan praised the appointments saying, All three bishop - elect are seasoned pastors of the archdiocese, with years of acclaimed ministry in all areas of the archdiocese. The three new bishops will be ordained as bishops this Monday in St. Patrick s Cathedral. They join Bishop Gerald Walsh and Bishop Dominick Lagonegro as auxiliary bishops of New York. Cardinal Edward Egan, Archbishop - emeritus, is the retired Archbishop of New York, and Bishop Robert Brucato and Bishop Josu Iriondo are retired auxiliary bishops. Please pray for our new Bishops!
