If you have a cold or are afraid of catching a cold: It is not necessary to shake hands at the Sign of Peace. A simple wave will do. Same as shaking hands with the priest or deacon after Mass. The clergy will be delighted not to catch your cold! At Daily Mass, please do not partake of Holy Communion from the Cup. Remember that Jesus is completely Present even when you only receive the Host. A good idea is to carry with you a small bottle of hand sanitizer. BLESSING OF THE BAMBINELLI It is a cherished tradition in Rome on the Third Sunday in Advent to bring the Baby Jesus from your home crèche and have the Holy Father offer a blessing. We invite you to bring your Baby Jesus with you to Mass THIS WEEKEND and we will offer a blessing at the end of each Mass. POLISH WIGILIA (OPLATEK) The Christmas Eve Wigilia Supper forms the focal point of the Polish Yuletide customs. Wigilia, which means vigil, commemorates the birth of Jesus. For Polish families, the meal starts when the eastern star appears through the parlor window to serve as a guide to the Birth of Jesus in the same manner as the star of Bethlehem was a guide to the Magi! The meal begins with the ancient tradition of breaking oplatek, a thin wafer, or bread of love. It is passed to the various members of the family who put it to their lips and wish each other Blessings for the upcoming year. These wafers are now available in the Rectory!

4 Longest Married Couple Search The search begins for the Longest Married Couple in the Archdiocese of New York! To enter: Couples must be sacramentally married for a minimum of 65 years and reside in the Archdiocese of New York. The longest married couples will receive commemorative certificates signed by His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan. The winning couple will be interviewed and featured in an article in Catholic New York.
