3 Thanksgiving Food Baskets The Women s Guild is sponsoring the food drive to prepare our Thanksgiving Food Baskets. A detailed list of food items is posted on the Bulletin Board in the Church vestibule. Nonperishable items can be placed in the box provided in the vestibule. Perishable items will be received on Sunday, November 20 in the Parish Hall from 9am to 12noon. Your support is greatly appreciated. Reflection on: My Church Prayer Before An Election Lord God, as the election approaches, we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our country, and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community. We ask for eyes that are free from blindness so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters, one and equal in dignity. We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and those abandoned, men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender. We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to your Kingdom. We pray for discernment so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word, live your love, and keep in the ways of your truth as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles and guide us to your Kingdom of justice and peace. We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit. My Church is composed of people like me. I will help make it what it is It will be friendly, if I am. Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great work, if I work. It will make generous gifts to many causes if I am a generous giver. It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and bring them. It will be a Church of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, and a Church with a noble spirit, if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same things. 4 Regional Day of Mercy Cardinal Dolan is hosting a Regional Day of Mercy as part of the Jubilee Year of Mercy on Saturday, November 5 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd., Poughkeepsie. You are all invited to attend this celebration, which begins at 2:30pm and will include reflections from a missionary of mercy, witness talks to the power of mercy, Eucharistic Adoration, confessions and a talk on mercy by the Cardinal. The Cardinal will close the day by celebrating Mass at 5:00pm, and there will be a light reception to follow. Meetings Parish Youth Group The Parish Youth Group will meet this Friday, November 4th from 8-9:30pm. Mark Your Calendars: Cluster Parish Mission Each cluster in the Archdiocese of New York will be holding a Parish Mission in the coming year. Our Cluster s Mission will take place the first week of Advent. We will meet in each Parish Church of our Cluster, like we did for the Stations of the Cross this past Lent. Here is the schedule so you can mark your calendars. More information will be coming. The Mission service begins at 7:00pm each evening.
