COLUMBA PARISH 25TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS Our Church was, for many years, a Mission of St. Denis Parish. In 1992, John Cardinal O Connor split the Parish of St. Denis and created the new Parish of St. Columba. We will celebrate our 25th Anniversary in Here are some of our plans: Anniversary Mass - His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan is confirmed to celebrate our Anniversary Mass on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 5:30pm. Church Restoration Committee - Eric Winogradoff is the Chair of this committee. We will spend the summer studying the book: Built of Living Stone: Art, Architecture and Worship which are the guidelines of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Members of this committee are asked to stop by the church office to pick up your copy and start reading. Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 13 at 7pm in the Rectory. Dinner Dance Committee & Journal - We are planning a 25th Anniversary Dinner Dance to be held at Christos on Friday, October 27, Barbara Falcone is the Chair of this committee. We are also planning for an Anniversary Journal. Photo Journal - Kelly Smith will head up this effort to create a yearbook with pictures of parish families. We will choose a company to work with us by October and schedule sittings after the School of Religion ends in May until the end of June Capital Campaign - Each parish in the Archdiocese of New York will participate in the Renew and Restore Campaign over the next three years. Our Campaign will begin in January It will coincide with our 25th Anniversary. The Restoration Committee is working to develop projects for your consideration. Right now, plans include new windows for the school, new signage, new kneelers in the church and new flooring in the church. Further plans will be developed in the Fall. CARDINAL S STEWARDSHIP APPEAL 2016 Parish Goal - $110, Pledged as of August 5 - $120, Number of Gifts Average Gift - $ God bless you for your generosity! We have reached our Appeal Goal as determined by Cardinal Dolan. Thank You!!!! Last year our Parish received a rebate of $4, which was a 60% share of cash received over goal. Any amount over goal this year, 60% will come back to St. Columba Parish! Fr. Michael will be on vacation until August 31. Fr. Rabi will be with us until the end of September. 4 PARISH NEWS: ST. COLUMBA CYO BASKETBALL: Registration forms for the season are now available for downloading at Please visit our website to download the form and mail in your registration today! All parishioners of St. Denis, St. Columba, and St. Kateri are encouraged to sign-up. We offer programs for boys and girls in grades 1-8. Our Travel Program (grades 5-8) plays against other parishes in Dutchess County. The Travel Try-outs schedule will be posted on our website; please check there for updates as dates may change. In house programs are offered for beginner and instructional divisions. These divisions will be formed based on registration numbers for grades 1-4. Both Beginner and Instructional Programs focus on learning fundamentals of the game in a developmentally appropriate setting. All of our divisions place a great emphasis on building Christian principles and team sportsmanship. We are a volunteer organization. If you are interested in coaching or assistant coaching please see the website for information and a coaching application. We look forward to working with you! Three parishioners of St. Columba are hoping to raise monies for a local charity and are asking for our help. Kim Schulte, Christine McGovern & Carlene Kuczma are raising money for Sparrow s Nest of the Hudson Valley. Sparrow s Nest provides two meals, once a week, to families of caregivers diagnosed with cancer that require chemo, radiation and /or surgery. He and a group of students are planning a Mission Trip to Jamaica on January 4-14, They will be offering Mass, the sacraments, visits to the sick and disabled, catechesis and witness. 7 TRI - PARISH NEWS Many of you know that our St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry obtains large quantities of meat and other fresh items from Patti Peck on a regular basis. Her work through His Table Ministries is to get perishables near the expiration date from grocery stores and distribute it to local pantries. Patti is trying to raise some additional funds for her ministry by selling Shop for a Cause coupons to Macy s. The coupons cost $5.00 and it allows you a 25% discount all day, all weekend August (10% on electronics & watches). If you would like to support Patti in this endeavor, there is an envelope in the pantry where you can leave $5 and take the coupon brochure. A Healing Mass with a free flow of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1925 Rte 82, LaGrangeville,NY. Guest Celebrant: Fr.
