3 ST JOHN FISHER PARISH ADULT FAITH FORMATION - FALL 2018 All sessions will meet in the rectory dining room from7:00-8:30pm Why Remain Catholic? October 17th Why we should remain in the Church in light of the current scandals Prayer: Lectio Divina November 14th How to pray with scripture in a deeper way The Divine Office: Praying with Psalms December 5th Come learn to pray the way Jesus prayed For more information contact seminarian Colm Mitchell (cmitchell@usmled) RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We are starting to anticipate the beginning of the RCIA sessions in October for those adults who would like to become Catholic This is how someone becomes a Catholic The RCIA process program is for: A non-baptized adult who is interested in the possibility of becoming Roman Catholic; An adult baptized in a Protestant tradition who wants to know more about Roman Catholicism and is considering becoming a Catholic; A baptized adult who has not had much Catholic education/formation and who would like to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and Eucharist) Anyone interested in knowing more should give Fr Dan a call (773) Spread the word! WEEKLY OFFERTORY Sunday, October 7th will be reported next week KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS RAFFLE FOR SEMINARIANS This weekend, October 13-14, the Knights of Columbus, Father Perez Council # 1444 will be selling raffle tickets at St John Fisher parish to help support local seminarians Last year sufficient monies were raised to fund six seminarians This year, with your help, the Council hopes to raise enough money to support ten seminarians A book of chances sell for $1500 or one dollar per chance Drawing will be held on December 1, 2018 Twenty prizes will be awarded with the top prize being $10,00000 Checks will be awarded within eight weeks of the drawing Bring your envelope return address labels to help speed up the process Thank you for your support STWARDSHIP = TIME - TALENT - TREASURE

October 7th was Respect Life Sunday On that weekend, our parish once again started to participate in the Baby Bottle Project which benefits The Women s Center of Greater Chicagoland This non-profit organization directly assists mothers and families experiencing crisis pregnancies by offering free services which include emotional, financial, material and spiritual support as well as counseling, pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, material and monetary provisions, prayer and other aid By God s grace, The Women s Center have saved over 34,000 babies and their parents from abortion since opening in 1984 It s as easy as 1,2, 3 1) If you have not yet done so, please take a baby bottle home with you after Mass this weekend 2 Fill it with your spare change 3) Return your bottle to church next weekend, October 20/21 NOVEMBER: THE MONTH OF SAINTS AND SOULS Throughout the month of November, we remember our Communion of Saints, all those who have gone before us in faith The Book of Remembrance will be placed in our Church allowing you to record the names of all your departed loved ones Also, envelopes for your All Souls Remembrance have been placed in the regular Sunday Offertory envelope packets A limited number of envelopes are also available at the Church doors For the donation of a single Mass ($1000) those names you list on that envelope will be remembered at Masses throughout the year Just drop those names in the regular collection or bring them to the rectory collection or bring them to the rectory office anytime during the month of November RENAISSANCE ACADEMY EVENT Farrell Forum presents Chicago actor Terry Lynch in Happy Illinois Bicentennial Birthday Bash on Thursday, October 18th at 11:30 in the Butler Reception Room of St Xavier University Event is free and open to the public
