3 PARISH NEWS: HAPPY NEW YEAR! On behalf of your Priests, Deacons, Religious Sisters and Parish Staff, we extend to you our prayerful best wishes for a Happy New Year! It is a joy to serve you at St. Columba Parish! Next week, our second collection is for the Catholic Communications Campaign. This campaign connects people with Christ, here and around the world through TV, radio, and print media. Fifty percent of funds collected remains in our diocese to fund local communications efforts. Your support helps spread the gospel message! NEW YEAR SCHEDULE 2017 VIGIL - SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD Saturday, December 31 5:30pm SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD Sunday, January 1, :30am, 9:00am, 10:30am & 12:00 noon Your annual Christmas Gift to St. Columba Church is most appreciated. In addition to our normal expenses, we recently have had two major emergency repair jobs at our fifty year old convent building: The bathroom outside the Adoration Chapel continually flooded. It was determined that there was a blockage somewhere under the library. Rather than dig up the library, our contractors were able to run a new sewer line that connects outside the building. All the carpeting had to be replaced. The power service to our convent failed. The remedy was to replace it with brand new underground electrical cable. This job includes the clearing of trees for 100 yards/20 foot wide. The estimated scope of all this work is at least $20, Would you consider a generous Christmas Gift to your parish, or temporarily donating a greater amount in the monthly Maintenance envelope? For whatever you can do, we are grateful! Parish Office Holiday Schedule Monday, January 2nd CLOSED Please note the Adoration Chapel will be CLOSED for the New Years Celebration on Monday, January 2, 2017 CONFESSIONS Every Saturday from 8:30-9:00am & 4:00-5:00pm

5 PARISH NEWS: ST. VINCENT de PAUL FOOD PANTRY During 2016, the Food Pantry served an average of 86 households (or 257 people) per month along with an average of 150 baskets for the three holidays. They also provided emergency assistance of fuel, oil, rent or other urgent household repairs throughout the year. We are most grateful to all of our parishioners who have been so supportive of the Food Pantry, and to all the Tri Parish Volunteers who care for the clients of the Food Pantry with compassion. God bless you! NEW ALTAR RAILING A new railing has been placed in the sanctuary near the Blessed Mother. It serves two purposes: 1) We now have a hand rail which makes it easier for some to go up the steps into the sanctuary. 2) The step near the Blessed Mother is unreasonably high.
