4 MINISTRY IN MOTION AT THE CATHEDRAL OF IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY Each month, we will be highlighting an area of ministry or ministries within our parish, and the people and families who volunteer in them. This month, we are featuring the Family Rosary Ministry that is currently hosted by the Michael Gonzales Family. ***Program Spotlight*** Michael and Sonia Gonzales and their daughters Natalie and Jennifer, host the Monday Night Family Rosary Ministry that meets in the School Chapel on Monday evenings from 6:30 to about 8 PM. A Scriptural Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet in song, and various other prayers are recited at that time. Mike shares, We also have the privilege to pray these prayers before our Eucharistic Lord exposed in a Monstrance. All are invited to join and pray these beautiful devotionals with them on Monday nights. 5 SAINT VINCENT de PAUL ( ) Patron Saint of Charities Feast day - September 27 Vincent, the son of poor French peasants, was born in When he grew up and was famous, he loved to tell people how he had taken care of his father s pigs. Because he was so intelligent, his father sent him to school; and after finishing his studies, Vincent became a priest. He started teaching the rich and began living comfortably. One day Fr. Vincent visited a dying peasant and soon realized how much the French poor people needed spiritual help. He began to preach and encouraging people to go to confession. He started a congregation of priests that worked among the poor. The number of charities of St. Vincent de Paul started was immense: he ministered to galley slaves on ships; he started the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity with St. Louise de Marillac. He opened hospitals and homes for orphans and the elderly, he collected large sums of money for the poor, he sent missionaries to many countries, and bought back Christian slaves from Northern Africa, as well as many others. Even though he was such a charitable man, he humbly admitted that he was not so by nature. I would have been hard, rough, and ill-tempered, he said, were it not for God s grace. Vincent de Paul died in Paris on September 27, He was proclaimed a saint in 1737 by Pope Clement XII. Are you interested in becoming CATHOLIC? Being held in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, lover of all of God s creation, whose feast day is 4 October, all owners of small animals are invited to bring their pets, on leashes or in cages, please, for this blessing. We are in need of an evening receptionist for the Parish Center for 3 evenings per week.
