There will be a mission for Advent featuring Music, Personal Witness, and celebration of our Catholic Faith reflecting the corporal works of mercy, reconciliation, and Eucharistic. 5 MARRIAGE BANS BLESSED MIGUEL AGUSTIN PRO, S.J Feast day - November 23rd Fernando Gomez and Nataly Ortega Miguel Pro was born January 13, 1891, at Guadalupe Zacatecas, Mexico. The loving and devoted son of a mining engineer and a pious and charitable mother, Miguel had a special affinity for the working classes which he retained all his life. At 20, he became a Jesuit novice and was exiled because of the Mexican revolution. He traveled to the United States, Spain, Nicaragua and Belgium, where he was ordained in Father Pro suffered greatly from a severe stomach problem and when, after several operations his health did not improve, in 1926 his superiors allowed him to return to Mexico in spite of the religious persecution there. The churches were closed and priests were in hiding. Father Pro spent the rest of his life in a secret ministry to the sturdy Mexican Catholics. He also carried out works of mercy by assisting the poor of Mexico City with their temporal needs. He adopted many disguises to carry out his secret ministry. In all that he did, he remained filled with the joy of serving Christ, his King, and obedient to his superiors. Father Pro performed his ministry heroically until November 23, He was caught and, without a trial, condemned for being a Catholic priest. As he faced the firing squad, he stretched out his arms until his whole body was a living cross. Then he called out in a loud voice: Viva Cristo Rey! (Long live Christ the King!) Cathedral IHM Thanksgiving Baskets Our Youth are committed to helping along with the Diocese Peace and Justice Ministry and the ACTS Community for the collection and distribution of the Thanksgiving Baskets for the community's needy. November 26, 2016 The Book of the Names of the Dead will be available in the church near the baptismal font in which the faithful could inscribe the names of their beloved dead who would be remembered in prayer during this month. Bereavement Ministry: Blessed are those who weep and mourn for they shall be comforted. The community of the Immaculate Heart of Mary sees a need to expand upon its Bereavement Ministry. We ask you to prayerfully consider whether God is calling upon you to offer your time and talent to a ministry of consolation and spiritual support to families who are grieving the death of a loved one. A successful Bereavement Ministry hopes to offer parishioners the opportunity for spiritual growth in loving response to our baptismal call to be prophets, priests and kings as children of God. To ensure that your time and talent are respected and used wisely, the parish will provide training and resources.
