3 MINISTRIES AT THE CATHEDRAL OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY Each month, we will be highlighting an area of ministry or ministries within our parish, and the people and families who volunteer in them. This month, we are featuring the Usher Ministry, under the leadership of Mr. Mike Munoz, and the American Heritage Girls, under the leadership of Ms. Rose Fierro. Jesus of Mercy Adoration Chapel The Blessed Sacrament is exposed 24 hours a day in the Jesus of Mercy Adoration Chapel located on the south side of the Church Sanctuary. Adorers are scheduled in one-hour blocks so that someone is always present with our Lord in the Chapel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a beautiful time of personal prayer and deepening our relationship with Jesus through the Most Blessed Sacrament. Parishioners who attend may put their parish collection envelopes in the general collection; these monies will be delivered to the parish. All other monies collected at the Mass will be split between the many works of Catholic Charities of Las Cruces and the LCIMC Scholarship Fund. Please plan both to arrive early and be generous! Wednesday, November 1 is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. Father Bill is scheduling a Mass at 6:30 pm so that all of our families can attend Mass. All K-6 children (and adults is you would like!) are invited to come to Mass dressed up as your favorite saint. Father Bill will give a prize for the Best Boy costume and Best Girl Costume. Class Attendance Sign-In Sheets will be in the foyer. Let's pray the Rosary together! October is the month of the Rosary and families are invited to join in praying and singing a bilingual Rosary in Finley Hall at 6:45pm each Wednesday of October. We will unite in this powerful prayer for our families and for families throughout the world. And, of course, join us for refreshments afterwards!

4 Memorial Mass for the Dead Ministry to the Bereaved The Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary invites you to attend a memorial Mass to be held on Saturday, November 11 th at 10 am, followed by a reception in Finley Hall. Annual Border Mass The 2017 Border Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 4 November, at 10:00 am, at the Rio Grande Canal in Chihuahuita in El Paso. To get there, take the Downtown exit off of I-10 in El Paso. Turn right onto Santa Fe and continue south. Turn right onto either Montestruc Court or Calleros Court and find parking before crossing the railroad tracks at the end of Calleros. Two parking lots are there; cost is $4.00 for the day. Be advised to wear sun screen and walking shoes, and to bring water, a hat, and a chair. All are welcome to attend! Misa Anual Fronteriza La Misa de la Frontera del 2017 se celebrará el sábado 4 de noviembre a las 10:00 am en el Canal de Rio Grande en Chihuahuita en El Paso. The Marriage Enrichment Ministry will be hosting a Marriage Enrichment weekend at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary on November 3 rd and 4th, 2017 at 1240 E. Espina Street in Las Cruces, NM. The weekend is based on parish-based programs that nourish commitment, develop couple leadership, and provide mutual support. The weekend will begin on Friday November 3 at 7 p.m. then continue on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. A $40.00 per couple donation is requested with meals and snacks included. 5 SAINT HUBERT (c A.D.) Patron Saint of Hunters Feast Day - November 3rd Hubert was a great lover of pleasure and his chief passion was the chase, to which he devoted nearly all his time. Hubert was afield the morning of Good Friday (while the faithful were crowding into church) and he was participating in the chase of a deer on horseback with his famous hounds. As he was pursuing a magnificent stag, the animal stopped and turned. Hubert was astounded at perceiving a crucifix suspended between its antlers, while he heard a voice from the figure of Christ say, Hubert, unless you turn to the Lord, and lead a holy life, you shall quickly fall into the abyss of Hell! Hubert dismounted immediately from his horse, fell prostrate on the ground and asked, Lord, what would you have me do? He immediately received the reply, Go and seek Lambert and he will instruct you. Lambert was the Bishop of Maastricht, who kindly received Hubert and became his spiritual advisor. Hubert lost his wife during the childbirth of their first son shortly after his vision in the woods. Hubert renounced all his honors, titles and military rank. Distributing his wealth among the poor, Hubert entered upon his studies for the priesthood and was soon ordained. He became one of Lambert s chief associates in the administration of the Diocese. Lambert was assassinated while Hubert was on a pilgrimage to Rome. The Pope had a vision of Lambert s murder and he appointed Hubert as the new Bishop. The Book of the Names of the Dead will be available in the church near the baptismal font in which the faithful could inscribe the names of their beloved dead who would be remembered in prayer during this month. A maximum of 10 boys and 10 dads (or another accompanying adult per boy) will be registered. Sign up soon! First come, First Serve! Cost is $10.00 per Camper, and Campers will need to bring their own tent, sleeping bag, appropriate clothing and outerwear for the Fall season; towel, soap, toothbrush/toothpaste and Rosary.
