1 Knights of Columbus Immaculate Heart Of Mary Council I.H.M. Tidings Grand Knight s Message Our Holy Mother Church is under attack through our families, especially our children and the elderly. This attack is on both the national and local fronts. It is almost unbearable to hear our leaders, on a daily basis, promoting abortion, up to birth and euthanasia being encouraged for the destruction of our Creator s precious human lives. I have even been hearing pro-abortion commercials on the local radio stations that sickens my heart. We need to act! Contact your legislators and tell them that these laws are unacceptable in any form. We can also pray. Pray for our families, the unborn, the elderly and sick. We need to be prayer warriors for the conversion of hearts for those who are involved in any way with abortion and euthanasia. Let us also pray for conversions of those who are trying to enact laws that go against God s people. I have included a Novina for Life in this newsletter. I would like each of us to begin this novina starting on Ash Wednesday (March 6) which is also the kick-off of the Spring 40 DAYS FOR LIFE campaign. Tony really wanted a bike for Easter so, on Ash Wednesday he sat down to write Jesus a letter. Dear Jesus, if I am good for 40 days...he stopped while thinking, I can t possibly be good for 40 days. He began writing again...dear Jesus, If I can be good for 20 days...he stopped once more...i can t be good for 20 days...tony finally realized he most likely could not even be good for 5 days. Upon pondering the situation for awhile, Little Tony walked into his folks room, threw a blanket over the statue of Mary dragging it to his room. After shoving the statue under his bed he began writing final time. Dear Jesus, If you ever want to see your mother again.. "Many people [in authority] oppose us, persecute us, and would like even to destroy us, but we must be patient. As long as their commands are not against our conscience, let us obey them, but when the case is otherwise, let us uphold the rights of God and of the Church, for those are superior to all earthly authority." 4 Novena For Life The protection of life is a sustained prayer intention of the Church, and in particular of the Knights of Columbus. Knights remain firmly committed to defending the right to life of every human being from the moment of concep- tion to natural death. To commemorate and bolster this im- portant cause, councils will promote a novena, nine days of sus- tained prayer, to build up a culture of life in our parishes, homes and wider community. Knights and their families will come together in both public and private acts of prayer to promote the protection of life. The Immaculate Heart of Mary Council will begin this Novina for Life on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 (Ash Wednesday) to coincide with the beginning of the 40 DAYS FOR LIFE Spring Campaign. We are also asking all Immaculate Heart of Mary parish families to join us in praying this novena.

6 GOD BLESS OUR ACTIVE MILITARY AND VETERAN Families The American Legion and the American Legion Post 10 in Las Cruces will celebrate 100 years of providing service to Veterans. All are invited to attend the celebration at the Post 10 located at 1185 E. Madrid on Saturday, April 27th from 10-2 pm. Lunch will be served. There is no cost to attend. God of peace, we pray for those who have served our nation and have laid down their lives to protect and defend our freedom. We pray for those who have fought, whose spirits and bodies are scarred by war, whose nights are haunted by memories too painful for the light of day. We pray for those who serve us now, especially for those in harm s way. Shield them from danger and bring them home. Turn the hearts and minds of our leaders and our enemies to the work of justice and a harvest of peace. Spare the poor, Lord, spare the poor! Prayer for Military Chaplains Heavenly Father, bless and protect Military Chaplains and fill them with the joy and courage of their vocation as personal ministers of Christ in preaching your word and nourishing us with the Sacraments. 9 Prayer for Vocations Heavenly Father, Bless our Church with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and sisters. Give those You have called to the married state and those You have chosen to live as single persons in the world the special graces that their lives require. Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him and through Him we may love You more deeply and serve You more faithfully, always and everywhere. (TMIY!) is an interactive men s program focused on the development of male leadership in the modern world. It combines the best research from science with the teachings of the Catholic faith and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of authentic men capable of transforming themselves, their families and greater society. TMIY! meets every Saturday morning at the Basilica of San Albino, Yannes Hall beginning at 7:00 a.m. Come join the other 45 men that are now attending. This program is for men ages 18 and up. 10 Plan for this Tax Day and into the Future April 15 (tax day) is right around the corner. It s become popular this time of year to encourage the opening of an IRA or similar retirement annuity, or the depositing of additional funds into an existing account, as a tax-savings vehicle.
