1 The Newsletter January 2019 Issue COMMUNION JANUARY 6, 2019 The Sacrament of the Lord s Supper will be observed on Sunday, January 6, during both worship services. This is one of the most significant events in our church life and we encourage you to take time and ask God to search your heart in preparation for communion. Anyone needing prayer is invited to join the pastors and elders immediately following the worship services. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 In this issue: Experiencing God Sunday School Class Care Calendar All in the Family ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS, JANUARY 27, 2019, 10:30 AM SERVICE Elders: Rhett Eleazer, Tripp Jennings, Jimmy Knowles and Billy Rowell Deacons: Will Culler and Mike Gorman Thank you to our officers who will rotate off the Session and Diaconate for this year! 2018 Elders: Andy Steele, Jack Stewart & Jim Wilkins 2018 Deacons: Anthony Del Priore, Chad Reese, Mark Morvay & Drew Takach Thank You December Birthday List ReFormed Student Ministry GRAVITY HIS KidZ HIS KidZ 2019 Teacher Schedule CPC Monthly Calendar Highlights Duty Deacons We Care Needs Special points of interest: Officer Installation Mission Trips Care Calendar PRAYER STONES! ALL IN THE FAMILY The Christmas season at Chapin Pres has come and gone and there is so much gratitude to be passed around to so many who made it a most festive occasion! First of all to Ryan Barber who organized it and to all who put up the decorations, they were lovely! Then there was the music, oh my goodness, it was outstanding! Thank you so much to Debbie Doster and the choir, the soloists and the musicians! It was lovely and we all loved it when we got to sing with you, too! To the families who lit the Advent Candle each Sunday, you did it perfectly and we loved seeing you all up there. And then finally to all those who remained to undecorate the church, we so appreciate you! Isn't it cool, within the Christmas festivity there is a need for each of us, for the talented musically and for the willing workers; it takes a family! So it takes a family to bring a Christmas celebration, it also takes a family to execute the work of the church. Each of you were given gifts and talents to serve the church family primarily! Are you serving the church family? Giving money is important but the Lord calls each of us to serve and you know what, nothing builds relationships and friendships like working together. You have been gifted to serve and I would like to help you use the gifts that the Father has given you; c'mon, you just might really be blessed, too! See you Sunday. Love, Helen Page 2 January 2019 Issue

4 Student Ministry Stuff: (Mark your calendars) ReFormed Community Night! Sundays 5-7 PM Come join us on Sunday nights as we continue our walk through the Bible! We have broken the Bible down into bite size chunks as we follow the story of redemption. This way, students, leaders, ad parents become more equipped to understand the overarching story of the Bible as their own story! This is a great time to bring a friend for the food, the games, and to hear the good story of some good news. AGAPE GROUPS As the body of Christ, the church, we have opportunity to worship, work, serve, and live together in broad context, and it is beautiful! But, there is also benefit for us to group together and be around our peers as we can share our victories together, bear one another s burdens, and learn together in accountability as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Each week multiple Agape Groups (small groups) meet together to do just that whether it is a group of MS young ladies, HS young men, HS young ladies, MS young men, grabbing a cup of coffee together on Wednesday morning or learning and growing through 1-on-1 mentorship with a leader. There is something for everyone to be engaging together in the life of the church each week. For more info please contact Trevora@chapinpres.com Service Project: Batesburg-Leesville, 1/5/19 All hands on deck to go to Christ Community Church in Batesburg- Leesville on Saturday, Jan. 5! This will be open to not only students but to all church members. Lunch will be provided. Youth Vs. Adults Super Bowl Game Sunday, February PM Mark your calendars! CPC s Annual Super Bowl game between youth & adults will be after church at Melvin Park (370 A Eptings Camp Rd, Chapin, SC 29036) between 1-4 PM. 5 HISKidZ newsletter update: Memory verse for the month: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Preschool version: All Scripture is inspired by God. We move back into our journey through the Scriptures this week during Sunday School, learning more about Paul and what he tells us about Jesus. Here s the overview: The God Who Gives Hope Big Picture Questions: How do we live while waiting for Jesus to return? We remember God s truth, grow in godliness, and spread the gospel. January 6: Paul made much of Jesus - Colossians 1:15-2:3 Paul said that Jesus is most important, and we should always be ready to tell others about Him. January 13: Paul s Letter to Philemon- Philemon 8-22 Paul told Philemon to forgive his servant as a Christian brother. MOPS (Mothers of preschoolers) meets at our church on the 2 nd and 4 th Mondays each month. They will start back up on January 14 th at 9:30 AM.
