2 Note from the Pastor: Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You. He said to him, Tend My lambs. He said to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You. He said to him, Shepherd My sheep. He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You. Jesus said to him, Tend My sheep. John 21:15-17 This is the passage God used to grip my heart to go into full time ministry many years ago. I need to go back to it often and be reminded what God has called me to do. I love being the pastor of Chapin Presbyterian Church and I want to continue to shepherd and care for this flock. I am excited to have this opportunity to pull away for a 6-week period to study and reflect. Please pray for Vicky and me during this time. We will be in Chapin most of the time. If you need anything, please contact the church office ( ) and they will contact Tim and/or one of the elders. I will be back in the pulpit on August 14. Our youth pastor, Jack Carmody, will be examined for ordination by the Palmetto Presbytery on July 28. Pray that he will do well and become a minister in the PCA. Have a wonderful summer! Dan ELDER & DEACON NOMINATION FORMS! It s that time again! Nominations are being accepted for the offices of elder and deacon. It is a wonderful privilege to serve the Lord and His people in the capacity of deacon or elder. DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS SUNDAY, JULY 3! THANK YOU! Naomi and I thank everyone for their concern, cards, food and, most of all, prayers as I went through my total hip surfacing surgery. 4 Lessons from Church Cat: CC has the run of the whole house, our house, and she has an entire front and back yard, too! I have shown her the porch, the bedrooms, the dining room, kitchen, den and bathrooms, but she insists on staying in the laundry room under a table. Because of her fearful nature, she is missing out on all the wonderful places to take a nap or catch a sun bath. There is a whole yard complete with birds, lizards and other creatures cats like to chase, but poor CC is missing it all. Every time I try to encourage CC to venture out, she runs back to her safe place. How sad! Our Heavenly Father must feel the same way about us sometimes, too. He has given us this entire world to discover and a job to do. But we continue to stay under our tables in the laundry room. He tells us in Joshua 1:9 to be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. In Psalm 23 the Lord tells us He is with us. So what am I afraid of? What is holding me back from getting out there and telling people about our great God? What blessings am I missing out on because I refuse to venture out? Good, hard questions that do not have quick, simple or easy answers. So I m spending more time in God s word and praying for Him to show me ways to venture out. Asking God for opportunities is risky because I know that is a prayer He will answer. But, realizing this is not my home, I m trying to be a better sojourner and pilgrim so that I don t miss out on His blessings. Praying for God to help me venture out, Diana YOUTH HAPPENINGS: TUESDAY, JULY 5 2:00 PM MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL SWIM THE WAITES HOUSE (512 LIMESTON POINT) WED., JULY 6 7 TO 9 PM MIDDLE & HIGH BIBLE STUDY: MS THE WILLIAM S (5 MOONRAKER CT.) Questions about these events or upcoming events, call Jack Carmody at , Connor Morvay at or Allison Belch at Oh my goodness, by the time you all read this note it will be July! Can you believe that? Already! Now it is time for some serious VBS talk. I need some men, well, actually 5 men, one man a day, to volunteer to come hang out at VBS from about 8:45 AM until about 12:15 PM. There are no serious jobs involved, just being a male presence on the premises in case something does happen. You can pick any day from Monday through Friday and the children and I will appreciate it so very much! Actually, you can even bring a friend if you want to or a book or just visit around! In our anniversary celebration list we can now add Dan and Vicky Ratchford, who just celebrated their 34 th wedding anniversary last week. Keep them in your prayers as they begin a 6-week sabbatical starting July 1. Keep Tim in your prayers, too, as he has to deal with all of us all by himself for 6 weeks! Tim and Brenda Musick will be celebrating their 38 th anniversary on Thursday! Hooray for all you guys! And John and Kim Waters celebrated 24 years of wedded bliss on June 27. I think there is still an opportunity for you to offer to chair an entry in the Labor Day Parade for Chapin Pres! Give a call to the office and we ll set you up. The truck has been volunteered and there is also a sign, all we need is you! I hope you have a perfectly lovely week, and I ll see you Sunday. Love, Helen Page 4, Issue 26

Join us on Sunday, July 10, at 6:30 PM for our kick-off ice cream party, and then each morning beginning on Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15, from 9:00 AM until NOON as we explore God s promises in His Word.
