1 THE NEWSLETTER JANUARY 3, 014 Issue 3 REMINDER CPC 7th Annual Ladies & Teens Afternoon Tea Saturday, Jan. 5, from :00 pm to 4:00 pm Cost: $10.00 payable in advance FOUNDATIONS 101 Offering Foundations 101, 01, and 301 are three courses we offer that we think every member of our church should take. Though 01 just started there are many of you who did not get to participate in Foundations 101 in the fall. We plan to offer this course regularly and right now there are two options. 1) Ladies, Rhonda LeClerg has offered to lead a group through 101 for anyone who wants to meet during the day. Please contact Rhonda ( ) if you are interested. ) Jim Fuller will lead a group (open to anyone) on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour starting February in room 11. YOUTH FOOTBALL GAME Sunday, :00 PM Location: Chapin High School Football Field We will play four quarters of flag football. The teams are Youth vs. Adults. Anyone 17 years and younger (down to 6th grade and those under direction of the Youth Director) will be on the Youth Team. The children will be invited to play in a Pass and Punt competition at half-time. After the game we will have a winner s recognition, prayer and then dismiss. Half-Time Children s Pass and Punt Competition and Tailgating 3rd Quarter Special Ladies Only Powder Puff Match-up We will tailgate at half-time so anyone can bring snacks or tailgate food! Come and cheer on your favorite team! 2 Note from the Pastor: Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. Colossians :6, 7 At our house, we have centipede grass in the front and Bermuda grass in the back. The centipede can be dug up and moved fairly easy but the backyard is another story. That Bermuda grass has deep and very strong roots in the ground and it is not easy to dig up. This passage reminds me of the importance of being rooted in Christ. My fruit is determined by my roots! I need to continue to GROW. That is the heart of our church, to encourage and help our members GROW in their faith. I hope each of you will take advantage of the many opportunities in our church to GROW. Please look over this newsletter for many of those opportunities and if you have an interest and do not see it there, call me and we can talk more. CPC MEN S RETREAT 014 DISCIPLESHIP AND YOU Hickory Knob State Park, February 8 March, 014 Our church has been focused on the topic of discipleship this year so we thought this would be a good issue for our men s retreat, too. With the sessions will be discussion groups, testimonies, and times for personal reflection. Cost: $150 (register before Feb. 6) Optional Activity Costs: Golf Fee: $8 Skeet Fee: $5 Register today! GOOD NEWS CLUB Good News Club begins again on January 30 at Chapin Elementary School. We need adults to volunteer to help for six weeks from :15 3:45 PM. Flower Dates Available The flower calendar for 014 is ready and waiting for you to choose your special flower date in memory, honor or celebration of your loved one. Several dates are still available in February & March. Please call Diana at the church office ( ) to reserve your date. Cost of the arrangement is $45.00 Retired Men s Bible Study Meets every Wednesday from 9:00 until 10:00 AM in RM 4. ALL IN THE FAMILY Last week CARE Committee decided that we would work to put together "goody bags" for the pastors to take when they visit people in the hospital. Here is a listing of things that we thought would be good to put in the bags: note pad and pen; lotion; dental floss; chap stick; Daily Bread and or devotional book; hand sanitizer; Kleenex; fluffy socks; and mints. If you have ideas of other things that would be good, please let us know. You are invited to participate in this service to our church family by donating any items that you would like. There will be a shopping bag at the Reception Desk for you to place anything you bring. Thank you for any help you can give, know telling who you will be blessing! See you Sunday!
