1 THE NEWSLETTER MAY 5, 2011 Issue 18 HAPPY MOTHER S DAY! She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Proverbs 31:26-28 FAITH PROMISE Thank you to everyone who has turned in their Faith Promise cards! If you have not turned yours in yet, please do so as soon as possible. Below are quotes from missionaries to ponder upon. WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBERS: Anthony & Tyson DelPriore & their children, Merritt & Charlie. Inside this issue: Pastor s Note 2 "The history of missions is the history of answered prayer." Samuel Zwemer "Never pity missionaries; envy them. They are where the real action is where life and death, sin and grace, Heaven and Hell converge." Robert C. Shannon "The mark of a great church is not its seating capacity, but its sending capacity." Mike Stachura "People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives... and when the bubble has burst, they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted." Nate Saint, missionary martyr "You can give without loving. But you cannot love without giving." Amy Carmichael, missionary to India "God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. If I had 1,000 lives, I'd give them all for China" Hudson Taylor Financial Update FOCAS Luncheon Men s Fish Fry Youth May Calendar Nicaragua Mission CPC College+ Ladies Only All in the Family! 2 Note from the Pastor: But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children. Having so fond an affection for you, we were wellpleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us. I Thessalonians 2:7-8 Happy Mother s Day! This is a special day to remember and honor all our mothers. Some amazing things happened this past week. Who could have know that Osama Bin Laden would be found and killed by our U. S. troops? This Sunday our Scripture passage in Luke 6 will teach us how we should respond to his death. The Elders have just approved the budget. A great thanks to all the committees and the Deacons who worked so hard on this year s budget. They will present the new budget to you soon. God has blessed this church with some very generous people. We have some financial challenges ahead with the new addition to our building, however, we trust that God will provide all our needs through His people. God also has blessed our missions giving through Faith Promise. There is still time to make a pledge to the Faith Promise ministry. I look forward to seeing you Sunday. But it was a wonderfully festive resurrection celebration and I love a festive celebration! Did you know that this week, May 1-7 is Teacher Appreciation Week?! I know that there are special treats for the teachers in the schools, but do be sure to express special appreciation to your Sunday School teachers, they are committed to serving the Lord Jesus, Chapin Pres and you! We ve had lots of visitors lately so many that it is often difficult for us to keep up with them. When you bring a visitor, or if you see a visitor please bring them to the Reception Desk to sign the Visitor List. It would be a great help and also assure them of being acknowledged. Happy 29th Anniversary to Allen and Julie Jones on May 15! See you Sunday Helen Page, Issue 18
5 Be still and know that I am God. Psalms 6:10 This is what God says to us as we read His Word. He wants us to spend time with HIM, reading HIS WORD and PRAYING. The rest of the verse says, I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. And HE was exalted in our church this past weekend as our HISKidZ sang and our KidZ Choir and youth performed Holy Moses. THANK YOU to Ms. Meems and to all the others who helped make this such a glorious time for our church family. It was truly wonderful!! Our first KIDZSpot was this past Sunday night, and 27 precious children were there. Mark your calendars for June 12 th. Another two hours of fun together from 5:00-7:00 PM while our parents enjoy their night out. FUNZONE on May 16 th for all children who know the five TREASURE SEEKERZ verses from this year: John 3:16, Mark 12:30, Philippians :13, Mark 16:6, and Psalm 6:10. Pick up a sheet this week at church, practice with your parents, and have them sign it. This is your admission ticket to the celebration!! Have a blessed week and remember to give your mom a special hug. See you Sunday, Mother s Day!
