1 THE NEWSLETTER APRIL 4, 014 Issue 16 THANK YOU ALL! FAITH PROMISE SUNDAY MAY 4, 014 Faith Promise is a means of funding missions here at Chapin Presbyterian. All of our overseas missions, US missions and our mission trips are funded by the amounts committed by Faith Promise. We currently support 10 overseas missionaries and US missionaries. Their pictures are on the world map in the lobby. We have mission trips planned for Haiti and West Virginia and other trips being considered for Nicaragua and Mexico. On May 4 and the following three Sundays, each person is given the opportunity to fill out a faith promise card. You are making an anonymous commitment to support missions for the next 1 months. The commitment you make is between yourself and God. The exciting thing is to make a commitment not based on your income or financial status, but in trusting God to provide the money you committed to give. God will surprise you with how He will provide. Schedule: May 4 Tim Hanley will speak about world missions. During the Sunday school hour all Adult Sunday School classes will meet in the family center beginning at 9:5 AM for a presentation from several of our missionaries. Free church wide lunch catered from El Poblano immediately following the second service. Join us for a fun time with piñatas, mariachi music and an opportunity to talk with our missionaries. May 11, 18, & 5 Testimonies of how people have seen God supply their Faith Promise commitments, and an opportunity to turn in your cards. June 1 Faith Promise results announced. Pray with us about what part God wants you to have in missions in our church. If you have a family, this is an exciting way to have the children get involved and begin to pray about world missions. A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped with the Walk with Jesus! It truly took a community as we presented the Easter drama for the children, hid eggs, and fed lunch to the families. Praise God, we had over 50 adults and teens who served in one of these areas. 68 children came to experience the real meaning of Easter. God is blessing our church, and we give Him all the Glory and Praise! CHS CHORAL CONCERT Thursday, May 1 7:30 PM at CPC Inside this issue: Pastor s Note VBS Registration We Care Needs All In The Family Youth Happenings 3 May Birthdays 4 His KidZ Nursery/Teacher Schedule Usher Schedule Week at a Glance NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER THURSDAY, MAY 1 AT 1:00 PM CHAPIN TOWN HALL EVERYONE IS INVITED! 2 Note from the Pastor: And for an entire year they (Barnabas and Saul) met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 11:6 This Sunday we will learn how the center of the worldwide missionary movement shifted from Jerusalem to Antioch. From this city, Paul and his teams launch out into the pagan world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church leaves its Jewish emphasis and becomes a worldwide movement. God s strategy of Acts 1:8 is still being lived out today. Chapin Presbyterian is actively involved in praying, sending, and financially supporting missionaries around the world. Our Faith Promise Sunday is May 4, and we want to ask our entire church family to prayerfully consider their role in world missions. It is so exciting to hear the stories of how God honors our faith commitments by providing in unusual ways. If you have a faith promise story, please send them to me and I will pass it on to the rest of the church. I hope to hear from many of you. Pray for God to meet the financial goal of $10,000 this year and for our missions focus to continue to grow. This past Easter Sunday was a joyous time. I hope to see you this Sunday! Dan REGISTRATION FOR VBS IS NOW OPEN! SONTREASURE ISLAND VBS WILL BE JULY 14 THROUGH JULY 18, 014 Registration forms are online or pick one up at the church. Volunteers are needed, too. Please call Jackie Linder at the church office if you can help out that week. WE CARE ITEMS FOR APRIL Rice, Dry Beans, Turnip Greens, Canned Sweet Potatoes, & Canned White Potatoes ALL IN THE FAMILY Oh my, there are so many people to thank for the most wonderful Easter celebration at Chapin Pres. The Maundy Thursday service was a wonderful meditative beginning to the Easter celebration. Then on Saturday what wonderful volunteers we had in presenting the various dramas in Jesus' walk to the cross. I really love the teen age guys portraying the Last Supper. And all of you who made, served, and cleaned up the children's luncheon did a fantastic job. Then on Sunday, oh my, the service was wonderful! The Lord was glorified in the preaching and the music. Thank you to all of the wonderful singers who led us in praise. They practiced long and hard for this presentation. For all who helped serve and clean up from the reception we are so grateful. Finally, did you see all of the new plantings outside the church? Some wonderful volunteers worked for a couple days to complete this project. To all of you we join together and say a big THANK YOU! Moveable Feast Sunday, May 4 1:15 at Figaro s in Newberry LET ME KNOW or sign the sheet in the Bell Tower Foyer. See you Sunday! Love, Helen Page, Issue 16

5 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
