Stewardship thru $ 94, Maintain justice, and do what is right, for soon my salvation will come and my deliverance be revealed. Isaiah 56:1 A steward is keenly aware of the need for justice. It is the Lord s justice practiced by a steward that delivers the poor. Have you remembered St. Joseph Church in your will?
2 The Twentieth Sunday of Ordinary Time Is 56:1, 6-7; Ps 67:2-3, 5, 6, 8; Rom 11:13-15, 29-32; Mt 15:21-28 O woman, great is your faith! Matthew 15:28 What is remarkable about Jesus interaction with the Canaanite woman in today s gospel is that He did not send her away. The disciples wanted Him to do so; she was not one of their people. She had no right to ask a favor of their Jewish messiah. But Jesus did not send her away. He tested her and marveled at her response. Jesus looked beyond gender and race. He saw into the human heart. Each of us has our own community where we feel comfortable. It may be based on skin color, social class, gender, political party, or nationality. But these are not of ultimate importance. Can you and I look beyond our own group and marvel at the faith of others? Perhaps today God will send a Canaanite woman into our lives. Will we recognized the offer of grace, or will we send her away? Msgr. Stephen J. Rossetti, Living Faith, Mark Neilsen, Editor Our Bulletin Sponsor of the Week is: We encourage our parishioners to patronize our bulletin sponsors. It is through their generosity that our weekly bulletin comes to you at no publishing cost. THANK YOU This bulletin is furnished to the Parish without charge. Call or , (859) lamondaop@gmail.com Meals from the Heart Earlier this summer, Meals from the Heart kicked off their meal delivery ministry. Low income and homebound Nelson County residents are receiving nutritious and delicious meals three days a week. A team of selfless volunteers deliver the meals prepared by The Guthrie Opportunity Center. With a recent donation, Meals from the Heart was able to accommodate everyone on their waiting list! Anita Westrup, , is currently accepting additional volunteers to be a part of this program! Light a Candle - Offer a Prayer Many people have been blessed and the net contribution total was $ from April 1-June 30 The Parish Pastoral Council agreed that the funds would be used to assist a couple of families in need of tuition assistance at St. Joseph School. We thank all who have made donations and offered their prayers. Room in the Inn St. Joseph was so proud to be a part of Room in the Inn Nelson County s inaugural season. Currently we are preparing for our second year a little wiser, and a lot more excited! Every Tuesday night from November to March, St. Joseph provides emergency winter shelter for the area homeless. The 2016/17 season served 54 people from ages % of those were Veterans. With over 50 volunteers providing countless hours of service. A change in this years program is the intake process. The intake center has been moved from St. Vincent De Paul to St. Monica. Because of this necessary change, St. Joe now needs volunteers to transport our guests from Intake to our Shelter at St. Vincent. Other opportunities for Stewardship include, overnight hosts, meal preparation, laundry, and cleaning of the Inn. This ministry is truly an example of living a Life of Mercy. If you would like to be part of this ministry contact Kim Hovious at
