John 6:11 The multiplication of the loaves and fishes teaches a basic principle of stewardship. That is that generosity travels in an ever-widening circle, returning hundredfold to those who give from their substance. Have you remembered St. Joseph in your will?

We think of the commitment and the sacrifices the ministry will involve. We may wonder if we can do it. These are important considerations. But when the ministry is completed, perhaps the most common thing I hear from people is how blessed they feel for having done it. They typically say things like, God gave me a lot more back in return than I gave. Indeed, we give to God in thimblefuls, and He returns to us in truckloads! When I look back on my years of ministry as a priest, I begin to see how little I really gave and how richly God blessed me in return. The proper response to such generosity can only be one of profound gratitude. How has God richly blessed you? Today, may you and I spend the day in profound gratitude. Msgr. Stephen J.
