2 From the Desk of Fr. Chris Confession time. I do suffer from the occasional daydream of vengeance and retribution. Nothing extreme or extravagant, but when I ve been hurt or perceive a slight, I want that person to pay. I want that person to suffer, not something equitable, but beyond. I want them to realize that wronging me was horrible, to be miserable for doing so, have a rash of misfortune befall them, and come groveling to me begging my forgiveness. Then I can be so noble granting forgiveness to my persecutor (but not too quickly). I have vivid daydreams. And it contradicts everything about following Jesus. Just a few weeks ago we heard, Blessed are the peacemakers. It s beautiful and easy from a distance. Today we re told, Love your enemies, and pray for your persecutors. Much more difficult when it s personal, isn t it? It takes strength to go beyond ourselves and bring peace, reconciliation, and love to another of whom we re not particularly fond. 4 Let s Talk Travel - Come back to the Community Center this Sun. afternoon, Feb. 19, from 3-5 PM for an exotic tour of China, guided by Dave and Marge Baker. You'll visit Chongqing (which includes the Flying Tiger Museum), Chengdu (the world's largest panda reserve), Beijing (including the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Tienanmen Square, and the Olympic Village), and Hong Kong. Bring your favorite snack and beverage to share. Dominga s Dignity Bag Project An Invitation to Provide Hope! Please join the Outreach Ministry for the monthly sewing of Dominga s Dignity Bags on Thursday, February 23, 9:00am in the Community Center. All bags will be donated to El Comedor, San Juan Bosco Deportation Shelters, and Nazareth House Women s Shelter in Nogales, Sonora. You do not need to sew to participate. Bring a sewing machine if you have one. Donations of sewing supplies are appreciated. Thank you! 2017 Blood Drives The American Red Cross and the Health Ministry have scheduled the following Sunday dates for blood drives at the parish this year: March 12, May 21, August 13, & November 12. Please mark your calendars and watch for the sign-up sheet in the Community Center a few weeks before each drive. March is Red Cross Month. I request that during that month (March) our people rededicate themselves to the splendid aims and activities of the Red Cross. The desert spoon cluster near the kitchen is mostly has been trimmed up? Much more has been done and more is yet to come! Hats off to our expanded volunteer Landscape Ministry!
