2 From the Desk of Fr. Chris Epiphany - a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple, homely, or commonplace occurrence or experience. It comes from the Greek word, Epi-phanein, to manifest or appear. It s that lightbulb moment, the Aha experience, when it all makes sense (remember geometry?). Literally it means to shine upon what was once in the dark or glossed over is now brought to light and is obvious. The Feast of the Epiphany commemorates the first manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles. These astrologers from the East, these Gentiles, have an Epiphany experience. They have a sudden, intuitive insight into reality initiated by a simple occurrence they recognize the Christ child wrapped up in his mother s arms. As we begin this new year, may it be filled with Epiphanies for us all, that we may recognize the Christ in the commonplace and in the ordinary. Fr. CORPUS CHRISTI SCHOLARSHIP KICKOFF MEETING High school seniors and their parents are invited to join members of the Scholarship Committee in the chapel on Sunday, January 22, after the 9:45am mass. The Committee will explain the application/ interview process. Applications will be available beginning January 22 and are due no later than April 3. Parish Town Hall The Parish Council will conduct a town hall meeting in the church on Sunday, Jan 15, from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM. The first half of the meeting will focus on some high points of last year s survey and actions in progress. The second half will be open question time. All parishioners are encouraged to attend. SENIOR MINISTRY As noted in a December bulletin, in response to demographics of our parish and suggestions of parishioners in last year's parish survey, Parish Pastoral Council is beginning a new ministry that addresses issues of importance to those near or at retirement, caregivers, and families of parents/relatives in that age group. Come to next week's Town Hall meeting to hear more details! Then watch the bulletin for opportunities to sign up to get this very relevant ministry off the ground! Questions? Tax letters requested by January 24 will be mailed January 27. Yoga Classes at Corpus Christi! Please join us for Yoga with Jo Hartman at Corpus Christi. We have classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00am. Gentle Vinyasa Yoga, appropriate for all from beginners to accomplished yogis. $5.00. Have You Moved? Please call the Parish Office at to update your information. Corpus Christi Has Gluten-Free Hosts For those who wish to receive Gluten-Free hosts at Communion, we have them available at all Masses. To receive them, please come down the center aisle at the end of Communion and indicate to the Eucharistic Minister that you need the Gluten-Free host.
