2 From the Desk of Fr. Chris We enter the last days of Lent as we begin Holy Week! I want to thank Fr. Richard Kingsley, our Pastor Emeritus, for our Parish Lenten Mission and preparing us for this week and the celebration of Easter. He did a fantastic job and had a wonderful response from parishioners. Thank you, Fr. Richard! This is a unique week for the Church, with difficult liturgies we only celebrate once a year. Perhaps you would like to participate in some of the celebrations that are special to this week. The Chrism Mass is on Monday at St. Augustine Cathedral at 2pm. This is the Mass when we bless the Sacred Oils used for Anointing of Sick and Anointing the Catechumens, and consecrating the Sacred Chrism used for Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders. If you have not been to one, I encourage you to go. I think it will make for a unique and inspiring experience. Triduum Celebration - Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. We tend to think of these as three different celebrations, but in reality the Triduum is really one celebration that spans three days. Notice the lack of a formal ending on Holy Thursday or the familiar beginning at the Easter Vigil. As for Good Friday, its structure may be the most ancient of liturgies we celebrate during the Church year. It is at the Easter Vigil that we finally welcome our Elect and Candidates as full members of the community! Fr. Good Friday Collection Our parish will support Christians in the Holy Land through the Good Friday collection, as requested by Pope Francis. Please be generous. Our second collection next weekend will be for our Building Fund. Tax Donation Letters Tax Donation Letters are available upon request from the Parish Office. Please call the office at and leave your name and preferred phone number. Tax letters requested by March 22 will be mailed March 25. Corpus Christi Has Gluten-Free Hosts For those who wish to receive Gluten-Free hosts at Communion, we have them available at all Masses. To receive them, please come down the center aisle at the end of Communion and indicate to the Eucharistic Minister that you need the Gluten-Free host. Health Ministry - Thank you to everyone who supported the March 13 Red Cross blood drive: our donors, want-to-be donors, Fr. Chris, the Knights of Columbus, and our HM volunteers. The Red Cross increased our goal and we met it! Corpus Christi helped over 60 people in our community thanks to your generosity. Chrism Mass The Chrism Mass will be held at St. Augustine Cathedral on Monday, March 21, 2016, beginning at 2:00pm. All are invited to participate in this celebration. Corpus Christi Youth Service Scholarship Award Corpus Christi is offering a $ scholarship for a graduating senior who is involved in service to our Parish and community.
