2 From the Desk of Fr. Chris We have the most popular reading for weddings as our second reading. I think because we hear it all the time at weddings these words from Paul lose their punch. This love he is talking about goes to the core of being a disciple. It s how a disciple stands in relationship to our God, to our world, to every individual we encounter. Love is how we relate, not so much to those for whom we have affection, admiration, or friendship (that s easy), but to those with whom we have friction, disagree, or drive us crazy (or we to them). Paul says to do all things in love. Every encounter is to be in love. And what is love? Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It is a joy to come in contact with a person like that because it s like coming into contact with the divine. May we be like that, at all times in every encounter. Greetings from the Corpus Christi Safety and Security Committee! We are offering valuable training to all parishioners. On Sunday, February 10, after the Knights Pancake Breakfast, an amazing team of trainers from IC/Save will offer free, vital training in CPR, ADE, and First Aid in the Community Center. We realize that emergencies arise in all settings, from golf courses, homes, and even churches. To know what to do and how to respond in emergencies, preparation is key. And that is just what this training offers! IC/Save will give us the tools and the knowledge to assist those in need of our intervention before paramedics arrive. If you and your friends are interested and wish to attend, please sign up on a clipboard at the north end of the Community Center. To receive them, please come down the center aisle at the end of Communion and indicate to the Eucharistic Minister that you need the Gluten-Free host. ATTENTION LADIES Women s Retreat Sign up We will begin registering for this year s March 23 women s retreat after all masses on February 23 and 24. That weekend will be for Corpus Christi registered parishioners. After that weekend, registration will be open to anyone. This year our featured speaker will be Father Nathan Castle.
