If you receive your newsletter by mail and would like to receive the Monday Morning message please send or call us with your address. You will still receive your newsletter by mail. Send it to office@bethanypresby.org or call Parking for Sunday Services it is requested that members not use the parking spaces nearest the church entrance. The Property Team would like to reserve the front row spaces for the elderly, for those with special needs and for visitors. Those who may have a greater need than others just might get discouraged from attending church because they have to walk so far. The Golden Oldies will gather together on Thursday, July 21 st at 4:00 p.m. for a picnic in Fellowship Hall. Have a great summer. MOPS Summer Play dates Bring the kids and join us for a day at the park! July 14 - Morgan Park July 28 - Bethany Presbyterian August 11 - Morgan Park August 25 - Bethany Presbyterian Contact Jennifer Wallis ( ) for more information. VBS needs you to save paper towel and toilet paper rolls for a craft the children will be doing. Please place them in the basket in the Welcome Center. 5 Need Scrip? What is Scrip? Stop at the Welcome Center after worship or at the office during the week and purchase a card(s) for Home Depot, KMart, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Target, and many more cards are available. How about going out to eat after a busy day we have cards available for several restaurants. We even have cards for BP and Sunoco for vacation trips. You can also purchase Giant Eagle and Shop n Save cards. This is the easiest fundraiser you will ever participate in because it doesn't cost you anymore than you already spend. Thank you for supporting the mission work of the church through this program. Nikki O Brien will be at the Welcome Center this morning after the 8:15 service. Family Promise The Session and Mission Team have accepted the partnership between Bethany and Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network). Family Promise provides temporary housing and support services for families that find themselves unexpectedly homeless. What this means for Bethany is: 4-5 times per year Bethany will host these families. Many Bethany members helped in December as we served as emergency host for a week. For a week, the families (we call them our guests), spend the night at Bethany in our classrooms, and spend the day in Crafton at the Program House (and the kids go to school if in session). Our first week is July Bethany members are always great at volunteering, and we need you now. We need van drivers, cooks, hosts, and donations (scrip cards for Giant Eagle / Shop n Save / Wal-Mart work best). There is a sign-up calendar in the Narthex with descriptions of the jobs. Please sign-up to help. Also ask Dan Wolfe ( ) or Bonnie Eichler ( ) if you have any questions. Meals on Wheels July is the time to bake for Meals on Wheels. The consumers look forward to all the wonderful food that comes this month from the church. Please remember not to put seeds or nuts in anything. We get a lot of chocolate chip cookies, so if people would bake something else, that would be nice. There is a calendar posted at the Welcome Center desk to sign up for a day/s and also to bring fresh fruit. We are serving about 60 people and the fruit needs to be delivered the day before it is needed. Fresh fruit is needed as follows: July 12 (bananas); July 14 (nectarines); July 20 (1 watermelon & 1 honeydew melon); July 22 (apples); July 26 (watermelon); July 27 (bananas); July 25 (oranges). One or two people can sign-up on the same day. Meals on Wheels in Bridgeville is in need of a driver and deliverer for Fridays beginning immediately. The route is local and delivers to several apartment buildings and takes about two hours of your time. Please call for more information. 4

We are so glad that our church is willing to adopt two staff members. Our continued support and prayer is appreciated so much. Please pray that they come to Crestfield with a renewed spirit and ready to serve for a (wonderfully) exhausting summer! Our church's summer adopted staff to pray for are: :: Talia Hullum - Talia graduated from Westminster College May 17 with a degree in History and secondary education. With grad school at Pitt at the end of summer we are so glad to have her return for a second year on staff. Talia brings wonderful excitement and energy to our Crestfield staff. While Talia did not claim very much camping experience before last summer she proved her character quickly when she was a phenomenal Pioneer Camp counselor week two. Her abilities go far beyond and we are so pleased that God has guided her back to our staff. :: Kyle Kooyers - Kyle will graduate (if he hasn't already) in the spring of 2011 from Waynesburg University. Kyle is a hard worker who culminates knowledge of outdoors, deep Christian spirituality and theological thought, programmatic creativity and a love for Christian service. Kyle makes an outstanding Mission Possible coordinator and we are blessed to have round two as Kyle joins us for his second summer. Suggestion Box Reminder: Did you really like the music or the sermon today? Do you have a comment or concern for one of the pastors? Is there something else on your mind that you d like to share? The Suggestion Box, located in the Welcome Center, allows you to have a voice while remaining anonymous. It is checked regularly, and all comments are kept private. Please take a moment to let us know what you are thinking, whether it s a praise or concern. 5

You may be thinking they were just heading there for a week of camp fun and games, but not this group, Samantha Hartnett, Brooke Ley, Daine Lower, Lindsey Myers and their leader Bonnie went to be Gods Hands and Feet. Crestfield Camp and Conference Center offers a wonderful program called MISSION POSSIBLE. These four kids gave up their week of fun at camp and spent the week working. On Monday we served at the American Red Cross, packing comfort bags for children and adults who have lost their home due to fire or flooding. On Tuesday we headed to the City Rescue Mission in New Castle, there we sorted through t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts and sweat shirts and sorted them by size. We did this so that they can pass out the appropriate items during the seasons and the proper sizes to the men staying at the mission. After our work we toured the facility, saw where the men sleep and learned more about the different programs the mission offers to men and families. We also had lunch at the mission with some of the men. On Tuesday afternoon we headed to Shennago on the Green. This is a Presbyterian nursing home across the 7
9 street from Westminster College. We had a great time serving the Seniors there. We painted some of the ladies finger nails, played games like Scrabble and Rumi Cube, tossed a beach ball back and forth, had bible study and some great fellowship time. What a wonderful way for kids to learn from the elderly. Wednesday we learned that you are also allowed to have fun and spent the day playing in the mud and water. Thursday, Pittsburgh day, we were back to work. We spent our morning working at 3 different churches, Brookline Presbyterian, Crafton Presbyterian and Crafton Heights where we did a variety of things from packing up food bank items, washing a church van, to weeding and cleaning the kitchen oven. Then on Thursday afternoon we headed out to World Vision and spent the afternoon packing boxes with Steelers Super Bowl T-shirts. (Wish we would have been packing up the Packer tees but the Packers won not us.) Then Friday, we served the camp by doing things they needed. We knocked down a broken Gazebo and removed broken picnic tables from the pool area, painted the kitchen and pressure washed bugs off the building. This was a great experience for all of us as we learned different ways to serve God. The kids would like to thank the church for supporting them and allowing them to learn more about God by serving his people and cannot wait to see what kind mission work God will lead them to through-out the year and next year. Thank You, Bonnie Eichler FROM THE BETHANY CHURCH OFFICE Attendance for Sunday, July 3: 8: : Finance Report as of July 3, Budget $733,124 Year to date Budget $368,556 Year to date Income $393,161 Per Capita for 2011 is $23.60 per member.
