1 Summerville Presbyterian Church Communion Sunday November 20, 2016 A SERVICE FOR THE WORSHIP OF GOD Eight forty-five and Eleven fifteen o clock Services Welcome Prelude (8:45) This is My Father's World arr. Kevin McChesney Ye Friendly Ringers (11:15) Come to the Table Martin J. Nystrom Choir Silent Prayers/Acolyte Candle Lighting Invocation *Call to Worship: Leader: Let the trumpet blast! Let the ram's horn sound! Leader: Let the earth shout and the heavens declare. Let the mountains and rivers and seas proclaim: Leader: Let the angels and archangels announce the news and let the people of God join the everlasting refrain: *Hymn # 151 (blue hymnal) Crown Him With Many Crowns George Job Elvey *Prayer of Confession: God, we confess that often we do not want a Savior who is a King or a Redeemer who has any claims on us. We would prefer Jesus to be subject to us. We have our own plans and agendas. We are happy for Jesus to rubber-stamp them but not a Savior to whom we owe allegiance and obedience. Forgive our foolishness, O God! Forgive our arrogance and selfishness. We know that everything we have and everything we are is a gift from You, but we are forgetful and stubborn. Thank You for not giving up on us. We ask for forgiveness, not because of anything we have or have not done, but only for the sake of Christ the King. *Silent Prayer *Kyrie Eleison Lord have mercy upon us. Christ have mercy upon us. Lord have mercy upon us. *Assurance of Pardon *Gloria Patri (blue hymnal) #579 Children s Song O How I Love Jesus Frederick Whitfield O how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus, O how I love Jesus, because He first loved me.

We will leave the church at 4 pm and have dinner at Music Man Barbecue again, which runs around $12-$15 per person. Look for the Simple Signup in the December bulletin. 5 Thank You: On behalf of Hands of Christ, the Service Ministry Team would like to thank Jim Hamilton and Jeff Bowers for nominating the HOC site at SPC for an award given by the North Area Top Producers. Our outreach program received a grant of $500 to be used toward next year s distribution. These funds will go a long way toward buying clothes and supplies for our clients who attend the next distribution. Having community involvement such as this is not only heartwarming, but is also quite helpful to this wonderful mission project. CHILDREN There WILL be Children's Worship today. Children may stay to take Holy Communion as a family, as usual, if they desire. Service Project Update: SPC Kids made over 325 magnet stones, reading "Thanks be to God," for the Thanksgiving Basket Project. Many thanks to our children for their efforts on this! Children's Advent Series: From Nov 27-Dec 11, our children will be learning about the Advent season during Children's Worship. Save the Dates: The Children's Christmas Pageant will take place Dec. 4 at 6:30. On Dec. 18, we will have Family Advent Day at 2 pm in the gym. We will make keepsake ornaments and decorate cookies. If you have a well-known chili or love to cook, enter your chili for a chance to win the contest and receive a nice apron! We will also be having a silent auction, which will be a great opportunity for gift shopping for your loved ones! Please keep us in mind for your Christmas shopping! See the Simple Signup for registering your chili and remember to give it a fittingly amazing name! Random Acts of Kindness: Youth tonight will be from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm, and we will be doing our annual random acts of kindness events! Cookie Walk December 18: We will be having a cookie walk in between services for a youth fundraiser! The youth have baked fresh cookies of many varieties, and we invite you to fill up a bag of cookies of your choice for $5. Variety is the spice of life, and this is a great way to complete your holiday baking!
