4 Recital Bethany s own Michael Talerico, son of John and Karen Talerico, will be performing a recital at Bethany Presbyterian Church today, Sunday, May 5 th at 4:00 p.m. There will be a free will offering benefiting the Bridgeville Area Food Bank. Michael will be joined by Armando, a baritone, and accompanied by Xuelai Wu. All are welcome. SPRING MISSION PROJECT A Ministry of Calvary Full Gospel Church Offering Short-Term Help and Long-Term Hope to Women and Children Suffering from Domestic Violence or Experiencing Crisis. Iced Tea and hot coffee will be ready at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. On Thursday, May 23 rd a coach bus will leave from the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. for a trip to Quail Acres, lunch at Drovers Inn and a stop at Meadowcroft Village. Golden Oldie members pay $30. All others will pay $45 which includes the $15 yearly membership fee. The last day to sign up for the trip is at the May 16 th meeting. A limited number of seats are still available so reserve your seat today. 4

5 Men of the church are invited to sing with the Bethany Men s Ensemble on May 19 (Pentecost and Music Ministry Sunday). We will be singing at both services. Please plan on attending brief rehearsals today, Sunday May 5 and Sunday May 12 in the choir room after the 10:45 service. Sing to the Lord a new song! The Next New Member s Class will be held Sunday, October 6 th at 12:00 noon. If you are interested in being a part of the Family of God here at Bethany please meet in the Welcome Center. A Memorial Gift has been received for the Memorial Fund in memory of Howard Maxwell from Ral & Dot Warnock. Fellowship of Prayer participants can pick-up their updated prayer list from Caroline Garretson who will be in the Welcome Center. The Personnel Committee of Bethany has begun a search for a parttime secretary. Interested candidates can personnel@bethanypresby.org, or contact the church office for more information. Please note that it is the policy of Bethany Presbyterian church that staff employees are not members of the church. Therefore, Bethany will only hire staff employees from outside the church congregation. Vacation Bible School July 8 th to July 12 th, from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. for kids 4 years old thru 8 th grade. For years, we have determined our weekly income budget based on historical giving patterns. However, giving for 2013 has not followed historical giving patterns. After analyzing both actual 2013 and historical contributions, we have modified the year to date weekly contribution budget to more accurately reflect the expected timing of 2013 contributions. Please note that the annual income budget for 2013 is unchanged: we have only changed the allocation of the budget to specific weeks. 9 Calling All Golfers Bethany Presbyterian Annual Golf Outing will be held Saturday, June 22nd at Fort Cherry Golf Club and all are invited. Whether you re a single player, a pair or foursome all are welcome to share in a great day of fellowship, golf, sit down dinner and skill/fun prizes. Join us as we watch Robbie attempt to hit a hole in one now THAT would be a miracle! Bethany Church Preschool Summer Play Camp 2013 Our school year is coming to a close and our plans are coming together for our first Play Camp All we need to know is if you will be joining us for some summer fun! The summer program will be consistent with our philosophy and policies of our school. We will be offering a summer day camp that is developmentally appropriate, including playtime, arts and crafts, songs, stories, outdoor/gross mother play and snack. There will be 2 separate 4-day sessions from 9:30 to 12:00 noon. Week one May 28-May 31 (Tuesday thru Friday) Week two June 3-June 6 (Monday thru Thursday) Registrations available in the church office. Parents may register their child for any or all of the sessions at a cost of $60 per session. Payments must accompany registration. We are all excited for the children to have a wonderful camp experience. Children must be 3 to 5 years old. Any questions call Mrs. Johnson at Registrations due by May 14 th. Bethany will be hosting the families from Family Promise again the week between May 5 th and May 12 th. The sign-up board at Bethany was up last Sunday and again today. There are still a few open spots to volunteer in every category. Please look at your calendar now and either go online ( or stop by the board today to sign up. Looks like a good mix of babies and older kids in 4 or 5 families to stay with us. 9

We came here famished, and You filled us We came here parched, and You quenched our deepest thirst. We came here shattered and You healed us, body and soul. We came here lost and wandering, and You directed us back to You. We came here sin-infested, and You forgave us. We came here exhausted, and You renewed us. We came here aware of our wants, You filled our deepest needs. Now, Lord, we ask do not let us stay here, but like Your Son, let us sing a hymn of praise, enter a garden of prayer, and march into our field of service.
