1 NAVIGATOR Knights of Columbus St. Charles Borromeo Council #5399, Augusta Ave, Port Charlotte, Fl We are called to do God s work VOLUME #43 ONE NATION UNDER GOD ISSUE #10 OCTOBER 2013 Grand Knight Brothers, We kicked off our fraternal year activities with a parish breakfast. We had old comers and we also had new parishioners and visitors joining us for breakfast. As usual we have received compliments as how we the Knights do the cooking and serving. If it has been long time since you stopped for good coffee sausage, eggs and pancakes all you can eat, it is time you pay us a visit. You will be glad you did. Final preparations and very hectic ones are on the way for Council s 50 th Anniversary Banquet. It is still much to be done. Anyone has time and willing to contribute their talent and time for decorating hall, setting up the place, ticket collections please call Grand Knight or Dave Sloma or Bob Allen This just might give you an opportunity to get out of the house and spend some quality time with Brother Knights. If you can bring your wives, girlfriends or significant others, we will be glad to have you. My wish is that we could fill the Parish Center with all the Knights for that evening. The new Council shirts have been ordered. Within a week they will be delivered. As you know we have gone from navy blue to gold with a new emblem. If anyone in the future still want one we will be glad to order more. It would really look outstanding the knights dressed in gold shirts for the meetings or any activity that being held. ($30.00, 2XL -Up to 4x $ extra) Have money at meeting to pick up yours if you have ordered one. As most of you know by now, Fr. Phil is our new Chaplain. We welcome him to our Council with open arms. It has been a while since the Council had a spiritual leader. It is our wish that Fr. Phil soon will be able to share his message to all the Knights on this page. Once again I will remind you that we will be collecting canned food for the needy at every meeting. As you come to the meeting if you can please take along with you can of food. Every Sir Knight is welcome. Color Corps practice: 7:00pm Meeting: 7:30pm. Welcome back Isabella's! Time to get back to work! Our bake sales will be the same Sunday morning as the K of C Breakfast each month. If you can't come, just send your goodies with someone else. We start setting up by 7:30 A.M. after the 7:00 A.M.. mass & also sell whatever is left over after the 9:00 A.M. mass. We had a very successful sale in September. The next breakfast is scheduled for October 6th. We will need help decorating the hall, for the Knights 50th. Anniversary party, on Friday October 11th. and again on the morning of October 12th. Many hands make light work! A luncheon & tour of the Genesis House is being planned for late October. I'll have more information about this at our meeting on October 3rd. See you then. 5 Community News Brothers: Bros, We encourage you to join us in the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration Dinner Ball. It is once in a lifetime event. It starts with a Mass followed by dinner, music, dancing and fun and join the camaraderie of Brother Knights. Tickets ($25.00/person) are still available. Fr. John Fitch has embarked the "Operation Welcome Home" to invite previous St. Charles Parishioners. The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is extended to 3 hours every Monday. Welcome Home Prayer cards are available in the Church pews. Please pray for his spiritual journey in Santiago de Compostella in Spain that he will be safe and sound as he completes the " mile" walk. Keep Christ in Christmas magnets for your cars season is coming. Please support the Knights on this endeavor. October events: Sat. Oct. 5th- Rosary Crusade of our Lady of Fatima in the Church, 10:00AM Procession, Rosary and Devotions followed by Mass and a pot luck lunch. You may bring your Mother Mary statues in the Church. Sat. Oct. 19th- Fr. Young First Anniversary Party as a Priest. Potluck 5 PM. Please check the bulletin. Sat. Oct. 19th- 9:30-11:30 AM -Safe Environment training for persons providing care or in contact to children and vulnerable adults. Bible Study Great Adventure Series by Jeff Cavins being planned for the Parish. This is very exciting and fun bible study course. It needs commitment to really appreciate our salvation history. It is another venue to know Jesus and our Faith. Please check with Bro. Nelson Perez. Lighthouse Catholic Media will be selling religious books, CDs and pamphlets in the narthex of the Church. Another resource to deepen our Faith. Please support the 40 days for Life Vigil at the abortion clinic. Pray and Fast to end abortion. You may dates that you may want to participate at 40 daysforlife.desoto@gmail.com. Stephanie Orr a young mother is leading this crusade to end abortion. Abortion is taking away our blessings from God as a nation, violating the 5th Commandment,"Thou shall not kill." You may also contact Bro. Jerry Allen or Bro. Claro de la Cruz our Respect Life Coordinators. Monthly reminders for our spiritual growth: Novena of Masses for Life every 25th day of the month for the unborn. Pray for the sanctity and respect for life and the end of abortion. Spiritually adopt an unborn child and continue to pray the anyone in anyway affected by abortion. Mondays- after 8:30 AM mass is Exposition of the Eucharist and Benediction from 9-12 noon. Talk directly to Jesus, present in the Holy Eucharist. Stay in prayer with Him for a few hours to begin the week. Welcome Him in our hearts. He is our personal Lord and Savior. He is the ultimate solution to our problems. Mondays- 6:30 PM- Kingdom Seekers Charismatic Prayer meeting. Feel the power of praise/worship and intercessory prayer. Prayer for inner healing and physical healing available. Tuesdays- 6:30 PM- Our Lady of Perpetual Help Novena, Mary our heavenly intercessor, Mediatrix of all Graces, Wed- 7 PM RCIA is ongoing. If you know someone who might be interested in our Faith or you have questions about our Faith you may join the sessions. More information about the Catholic Faith is available in the web. First Thurs- 7PM-8:15PM "Quo Vadis" Discernment group, for men discerning a vocation to the priesthood, led by Fr. Cory St. Francis Xavier Parish, 2157 Cleveland Ave. Ft. Myers. We should encourage our young men to become priests since most of our priests are in retirement age. Without priests Jesus will not be present in the Holy Eucharist.
