2 St. Hilary of Poitiers Parish January 27, 2019 Third Sunday in Ordinary time Pastor s Corner Rejoicing in the Lord must be your strength Nehemiah 8:2 Today we come once again to rejoice and to give thanks to the Lord. In particular we pause to rejoice in our Catholic Schools. Schools like our own are teaching and preserving our most valuable treasure It is the hope and promises of our Catholic faith. This faith, that is preserved in the Lord s teachings and commandments is the cause of our joy. The Psalmist reminds us this faith is what, refreshes the soul, gives wisdom, rejoices the heart, enlightens the eye and endures forever. All of this is found in the person of Jesus Christ. He alone fulfills the hopes and aspirations of the human heart. He is the glad tidings we want our children to discover. This is the vital role St. Hilary of Poitiers School plays in our community. We want our children to excel academically but most importantly spiritually. Helping them build a relationship with Jesus Christ is the best antidote against a growing secular and an aggressive atheism. We all play a part in this mission. As St. Paul reminds us there are many parts but one body. We have our Principals, our teachers, administrations, parents, priests and deacons, young and old. We all form one body in Christ. All the parts must have the same concern for one another. I am especially grateful to our Principal Mrs. Eileen Fagan for her faithful leadership. To our faculty, staff and our Home and School you bless us everyday by you devotion and sacrifices. To all of you, who actively engaged in our mission and to the community at large, I am grateful for all your concern and support. May we continue to be the guiding and gentle hands pointing our children to discover the joy of the Lord! Three of our parishioners were recognized for their years of service to our PREP Program. Noreen Forking for 20years; Joann Brenner and Denise Tysyka for 15 years.
