The purpose of our congregation is to worship God, who gives life through Word and Sacrament; to serve one another in love and fellowship; and to proclaim forgiveness and salvation to all through Jesus Christ alone. BEFORE WORSHIP As you prepare to worship your Lord today, spend a few quiet minutes in prayer before the service. Grant that Your people, illumined by Your Word and sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ s glory, that He may be known, worshiped, and believed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with You and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and forever. THE HOLY GOSPEL - JOHN 2: Three days later, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus mother was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus mother said to him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus said to her, Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My time has not come yet. 5 His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you. 6 Six stone water jars, which the Jews used for ceremonial cleansing, were standing there, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7 Jesus told them, Fill the jars with water. So they filled them to the brim. 8 Then he said to them, Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. And they did. 9 When the master of the banquet tasted the water that had now become wine, he did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew). The master of the banquet called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have had plenty to drink, then the cheaper wine. You saved the good wine until now! 11 This, the beginning of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. THE OFFERING The members of Peace Lutheran Congregation have joined together to do the Lord s work in this community and around the world. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. Painting will also need to be done, if you have paint rollers w/extension rods, adjustable ladders to use on basement stairs, brushes, drop clothes and supplies to help with the painting. Brooms and dust pans needed. Family Night Bingo Please join us for our next church Family Night on Friday, February 8 th, at 6:00pm. Our Bingo Night will feature a fun Valentine's theme with prizes for each round. We ll provide Sloppy Joes for the meal and we ask that you bring a side dish to share. WE ARE IN NEED OF NEW OR GENTLY USED PRIZES for both children and adults. If you have any items to donate, please drop them off in the church office by Wednesday, February 6 th. Kato on Sunday, January 27 th, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., for downhill skiing or snowboarding. The cost is $21 for the lift ticket and $19 for rentals. We are planning to meet by the ticket booth at Mt. Volunteer Needs at Peace Ushers We are in need of more males, ages 15 and up, to help usher at 2nd service. Group System Coordinator Sergio Salgado is stepping down as our Group System Coordinator and so we are looking for someone to step up to help. The chief roll of the Group System Coordinator is to create the annual serving schedule for our groups as well as be in regular contact with the Group Leaders to coordinate volunteers for Sunday Refreshments, Funeral Meals, Advent & Lenten Meals, and Church Cleaning Days. Group Leader for Group #5 The chief responsibilities include contacting members of group #5 to serve and/or bring food when their group is up to serve, as well as, ensure that things follow smoothly during the event. You do not need to be a current member of Group #5 to lead this group. Adult Leader for Lutheran Pioneers The primary responsibilities include planning monthly Pioneer events as well as co-leading them. Bethany seminarian Karim Yaghleji will tell his story about living in Syria, the persecution of Christians, and how we can be encouraged by our Christian family across the world.
