The purpose of our congregation is to worship God, who gives life through Word and Sacrament; to serve one another in love and fellowship; and to proclaim forgiveness and salvation to all through Jesus Christ alone. Before Worship As you prepare to worship your Lord today, spend a few quiet minutes in prayer before the service. Review the lessons, the service notes, and pray this prayer: Prayer of the Day Almighty God, we confess that we deserve to be punished for our evil deeds. But we ask You graciously to cleanse us from all sin and to comfort us with Your salvation; through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. For the Children A Cry-Room is available if your little ones need a moment. It is the first room on the left as you walk into the church building. We have come together in the presence of God our heavenly Father, to render thanks for the great benefits that we have received at His hand, to set forth His most worthy praise, to hear His holy Word, and to ask for ourselves and on behalf of others, those things that are necessary for our life and salvation. O come, let us worship Him! Let us kneel and bow down before Him. Let us confess our sins with penitent hearts, and obtain forgiveness by His infinite grace and mercy. C: Almighty and most merciful Father, we have strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We have followed the devices and desires of our hearts. We have offended against Your holy law. We have done those things which we should not have done, and we have not done those things which we should have done. Have mercy on us, O Lord! For His sake grant that we may live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of Your holy name. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. 9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 5

"Who do you say I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. The Offering The members of Peace Lutheran Congregation have joined together to do the Lord s work in this community and around the world. Visitors need not feel obligated to participate in this offering which supports our ministry. He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32 Please fill out the Friendship Register. 11 Announcements Easter Services promotion (door hangers) is planned for Saturday, April 5 th. Plan to meet at church at 8:30 AM to get the supplies and map. Lunch will be provided at Peace afterward. Sign-up sheet is in the narthex or online through VolunteerSpot. Please help us to reach out to North Mankato. Adult Bible Study topic: Love & Respect, will be on Sunday mornings at 9:45am; if you miss Sunday, it will be repeated on Thursday evening at 6:30PM. CROSSED Youth Group will meet tonight from 6:15-8:30PM. All youth in grades 7-12 are invited to come for fun and fellowship. Contact Josh Mayer (Joshua.mayer@blc.edu) with any questions. Solid Grounds Bible Study meets on Tuesdays, at 9:00 AM. Everyone is invited to attend! Women of Peace will be meeting on Tuesday, April 1 st, at 10:00 AM. Ladies, please plan to join us. Join Us For Supper! Lenten suppers will be served from 5:15-6:15PM every Wednesday during the Lenten season. We have awesome cooks in our congregation come and enjoy the food and fellowship. Midweek Lenten services are held Wednesdays at 6:30pm. Lenten Services will be a rotation with ELS/WELS pastors. The theme is From Garden to Glory April 2 April 9 The Garden of Passion The Garden of Peace Jesus Lambs at Peace Preschool needs your help for our Tuesday, April 8 th, Open House from 6-8 p.m. We need volunteers to bake bars or cookies, help with our registration table, face-paint, help with games, crafts or welcoming parents and their children. There is a sign-up sheet near the snack table and the kitchen door. Come and join the fun. 12 The Peace Church Council has called a special voters meeting for April 27, 2014 following the second service to vote on recommendations for the position of Bethany Lutheran College President to the Bethany Board of Regents. Save the Date! Peace is having Vacation Bible School Wednesday Friday, June th, from 9a.m. 2p.m. For ages 3 (potty trained) through students entering 6 th grade. This year s leaders are Denice Woller (507) and Kristen Lukasek ( Watch the bulletin for more VBS information and ways you can help make this year an awesome experience for all! Camp Indianhead for ages Lutheran Island Camp will host Camp Indianhead this summer on July 6-11, The cost is $250 per camper. Camp Counselors are also needed. (Counselors must be 18 years old when Camp Indianhead begins.) Pickup registration forms in the narthex. Bus transportation to Camp is available. The cost will be $70 to $75 per camper. Payment for transportation will be collected the day the bus leaves for camp. Space is limited because the campers luggage is also loaded on the bus. 30 to 35 is the maximum number of passengers the bus can carry. If you have questions or wish to reserve a spot on the bus, please call or Lance Johnson at (507) or ljohnson1@blc.edu All Confirmed ELS Youth This summer s LYA trip is to Missoula, MT, July Come for youth fellowship, Bible study, and worship. Activities include river rafting, a climbing wall, and high ropes course, and more! Check out the ELS website and the LYA Facebook page LYA (Lutheran Youth Association) for registration information. There is a registration fee of $250 due by May 1. After May 1, the registration fee goes up to $300, with the final deadline being June 1. This fee does NOT include the bus transportation! Be prepared for a departure earlier that week, and for more fun stops along the way to the convention. More information to come. Questions? 13 Last week at Peace: Sunday Worship 200 Wednesday 124 You re invited to the National Summit on Senior and Disability Ministries, May 2-3, 2014, at the Mystic Lake Conference Center in Prior Lake, MN. Hosted by The Lutheran Home Association (TLHA), experience a unique conference for congregation members and those who have an interest in senior and disability ministries. Network with industry representatives at the educational sessions, panel discussions, exhibits and an evening celebration with live entertainment. Earn 4.5 continuing education (CE) credits for attending the four sessions. Active TLHA Sophie Boessling Society Members are invited to attend the conference at no cost. Monday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. The Twin Cities' Mixed Blood Theatre company will perform The Deaf Duckling in Meyer Hall 101. Featuring a talented cast of deaf and hearing actors, this innovative show deftly intertwines the familiar "ugly duckling" fairy tale with the story of a deaf child born into a hearing family. Performed simultaneously in English and American Sign Language, it offers a warm and insightful look at how one family bridges deaf and hearing cultures. Free!
