Volume II No 7 January 14, 2017 View this in your browser TASTE OF TRINITY Taste of Trinity is all about introducing you to the heart of Trinity Church. It s a fun, low-key lunch that provides your family with an easy way to investigate Trinity Church and discover a place to meet people, embark on or grow in your spiritual journey and answer the call of your heart to serve your community. Taste of Trinity is for visitors and regular attenders whether you've come to one service or for years. It is designed for those in our community who are curious to know more about the ministry of Trinity. If you are wondering whether Trinity might be your church home, Taste of Trinity is the place to start. Our hope is that this first taste will whet your appetite to get connected at Trinity through our Intro to TPC Class. You can register by clicking here or see one of your helpful greeters at the Information Center who will help sign you up. Childcare will be provided, just list your children during registration. Our first Taste of Trinity will take place on Sunday, January 29 from 12:15 p.m.to 1:30 p.m.
Mike Rasmussen has begun a new sermon series for a new year, to address this question: What are we trying to build here at Trinity Presbyterian Church? The series is entitled "We Believe," because it describes what we believe God is calling us to try to build together as a church family. The series will focus on ten key features of church life in the Bible: WE BELIEVE IN... Missional Community Koinonia Shepherding Frontline Prayer Radical Inclusivity Mercy through Community Serving One-Another Making Disciples Church Planting Restorative Worship Putting all the sermons together and it gives you a statement of what we believe. "We believe in missional community, living in koinonia together, following our shepherds, exercising frontline prayer in order to walk in radical inclusivity, showing mercy through community while serving one another in order to make disciples and plant churches for the glory of God reflected in restorative worship."

EXTENDING THE GOSPEL TO THE WORLD Missionary Update Walter and Talia Turner, Intervarsity Christian UTD and UT Arlington
A Sneak Peek Into Our Life, What is life like with 5 jobs, 2 kids, and a partridge and a pear tree? We share with you all each month a story or snippet from our work on campus, but don t often get to fill you in on our family life. So here you go: a sneak peek into the Turner family. Life is a bit chaotic! Walter works with InterVarsity at UT Arlington which is a solid 45 minute commute from our home, if there is no traffic. On top of that he is also helping grow an area initiative to reach more black college students across North Texas and works at Home Goods in the mornings to bring in some extra income. Talia can t work at Home Goods because she would spend more money than she saves! Talia has transitioned to working with InterVarsity UT Dallas, which, thankfully, is close to our apartment, does administrative work for InterVarsity Red River Region and started substitute teaching in elementary schools primary working with special ed. She loves being a mom and helping kids learn, so special needs elementary students are a good fit for her. We ve also been house hunting (Dallas is a sellers market right now, so it s been an emotional rollercoaster.) and looking to replace our aging sedan. Neither of us have ever purchased our own car before and making these grown-up decisions is challenging! Even though we both turned 30 this year, we often feel too young and immature to know what the wise choice is.
Saija is now 2.5 years old and loves exploring, learning, and playing. Very age appropriate, huh? Talia tries to do one special outing with her each week. Usually it is a trip to the library for the weekly toddler program or perhaps a trip or even bike ride to the play ground. These outings are often mixed into play dates to give Talia a chance to catch up with friends too. Saija loves pretending to be a doctor, building or fixing things like Daddy, cleaning like Nanna, watching Peppa Pig or Hey Duggee, coloring, painting, playing with play dough and anything to do with trains or dinosaurs. Her dream is to go on holiday with a suitcase like Peppa. Janna is almost 6 months old, has nearly 2 teeth, and is eager to be able to sit up on her own. Janna is a chubby, social lite ready for any eye contact or cuddling she can get. Sound like the perfect baby? She has one baby flaw: sleeping at night. Lately she has been worse than when she was a newborn. Lord help us! If you d like to catch up, have a deep or encouraging conversations, pray, or give us some wisdom? Let s set up a coffee date, even if it is Google hangout! CHURCH & EXTENDED FAMILY CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR Jessica DeMotte's mother, Janis. She is working full time again but needs prayer for her energy levels which is related to her digestive issues. Ilana Lemke's mother, Claire who has leukemia. Pray for wisdom for the doctors, clarity of treatment and healing. Mary Enright's son, David, to be saved.
Pray for those at Trinity who are unemployed and under-employed at this time. Pray for those unable to attend worship: Al & Barbara Gibson and Dolly James. LOCAL AND GLOBAL CHURCH Pray for the ministry of our sister PCA churches in the North Texas Presbytery and area churches in our community; specifically for Sherwood Shores Chapel, Gordonville, TX as they seek a new pastor to replace David Frierson. Pray continuously for God's provision to sustain this ministry. Pray for Realizing True Hope Ministries (RTHM), ministering to survivors of abuse and their loved ones:
Pray for Real Options for Women PRAISE: Thank you for praying for Allie. She is a teenager and thought she had to abort because she didn't want to tell her parents that she was pregnant. We are thrilled to report that Allie has now chosen life and is getting parental care. PRAISE: Thank you for praying for Pihu. Unfortunately she decided to abort. Pray this tragedy would bring Pihu to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray for Chau. She is is a married Buddhist woman and both her and her husband want to abort. The sonogram showed a healthy 7-week-old baby. We were able to share the Gospel with Chau during her appointment, so pray the Holy Spirit would intervene quickly. PRAISE: 180 Degrees has been approved for all the high schools in Mesquite ISD. This is a major undertaking but such a rich mission field to spread the message of purity. Continue to pray as Rich and Kayla have a meeting with Plano ISD in February.
