3 Church Life Remember to take five minutes after church to meet someone new. Graveside Service for Jeannine Snyder is tomorrow, August 12, at 11 am, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs, MI. Baptism at Weko Beach: Next Friday, August 17, at 7:15. Rett Fagal will be baptized at Weko Beach. Join with this family for celebration and praise. Look for our group on the left side (facing the water) of Weko Beach (Lake St., Bridgman) Communion: Next Sabbath, August 18. Enjoy a special communion service that focuses on the Lord s sacrifice and on spending eternity with Him. If any shut-ins want Communion, please contact the church office ( or secretary@nileswestside.org) to request a visit. Baptism and Beach Vespers at Weko Beach: Next Sabbath, August 18, at 7:15 pm. Congratulations to Lorren and Seth Wiedemann on the birth of their twins MaeLynne Marie and EmmaLynne Jordan. They were born July 13, each weighing 4 lbs. 10 oz. Volunteers Needed Health Tent at Berrien County Youth Fair: Niles Westside is responsible for the health tent on Monday, August 13, from 5-11 pm in two or three-hour shifts. Your Health Ministry department needs 24 volunteers to conduct: blood pressures, drunken goggles, weights, BMI, facial scanning, as well as greeters. Operation Christmas Child: In just about 100 days (November 12-19) we will once again be filling semi-trailers with shoe box gifts as a Bible Lab here at NAS. Over 300,000 children have learned of the love of Jesus from boxes from our Michiana area in the past 20 years. Now is a perfect time to plan to be involved in this missionary endeavor. A fund-raising garage sale is being planned for August 31 and September 2 to assist with shipping costs of the boxes filled by our NAS students. Adventurers is for families with children in Kindergarten - 4 th grade. We meet in the gym on most Sundays during the school year, from 4-5:30 pm. A parent must accompany children. 4 Community & Other Announcements Adventist Retirees of Michiana will meet for the annual pot luck and corn roast at 1 pm, Sunday, August 12, at Wolf s Prairie Park in Berrien Springs, MI. Bring a dish to share. The corn is provided by the organization. All seniors 55 and older are welcome to join us for this annual late summer event. Contact Ken and Sharon Straw ( ) for more information. District 9 Family Camp at Camp Au Sable is just around the corner. Labor Day weekend is August 31-September 3. You are invited to check out the website and then make your reservations as soon as possible. The church office has application materials available for those unable to obtain them online. The deadline for reservations is noon on Sunday, August 13. For more information contact Ric Streelman ( ). You will be physically refreshed and spiritually blessed at camp! Mother Daughter retreat: October at Camp Au Sable in Grayling, Michigan. The 2018 theme is "Son Harvest County Fair," with Stella Mucha and her daughter as the speakers. Michigan Men of Faith The Faithful Man: September 8, at Great Lakes Adventist Academy. The keynote speaker is Pastor Samuel Thomas Jr., who has ministered in Australia, England, New Zealand, Jamaica, Canada, India, Zimbabwe, Bermuda, and Kenya. Pastor Thomas now serves as Director of the New Leaf Prophecy and Doctrinal Learning Center; Director of Philanthropy; and Senior Pastor of the Columbus Central SDA Church in the Allegheny West Conference. Breakout sessions will be presented by Elders Jim Micheff, Justin Ringstaff, Kameron DeVasher, and Nathaniel and Jacob Gibbs. (Plan to bring your own lunch or potluck with a group from your church. Lunch is not provided this year.) Free Dental Care & Health Expo: On Sunday, August 19, Harbor of Health will again host this event in Benton Harbor. Healthcare workers, pastors, counselors, greeters, interpreters (Spanish or French), security, patient transporter, set up/take down, food service, children s corner, etc. are all needed.
