5 Church Life Welcome to all who have joined us for worship today, especially the Niles Adventist School band members and their families! Remember to take five minutes after church to meet someone new! New Prayer Request: Ray Constable (health) Our Discovery Bible Class will continue on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 7 p.m. We have more to explore in the book of Revelation as we unpack the events taking place right now and the decisions needed to be ready for Jesus' soon return. Plan on attending on Tuesday and Friday nights in the multipurpose room at the school. Special Service Next Week: Next Sabbath, we plan to have a special service called Every Eye Will See Him, that embraces the Christian hope expressed in so many hymns about Christ's soon return. We also want everyone from Unlock Revelation to join us for a wonderful fellowship meal after the service. Fellowship Lunch: Next Sabbath, everyone who attended the Unlock Revelation series is invited to share a fellowship meal with us. Bring a vegetarian dish to share, and enjoy the fellowship! Media on the Brain with Scott Ritsema: Sabbath, May 21, at Niles Westside at 8:30 or 11 a.m.; 5:30 p.m.; and 7:45 p.m. (fellowship meal at 6:45). DVDs will be available after sundown. We see it all around us. Hollywood, popular music, TV, video gaming, spectator sports, e-relationships, and pornography are saturating the lives of God s professed people. But what does the latest science say about the mind-altering effects of 21 st century media? And what is the spiritual agenda in the entertainment and advertising industries? Bonfire Social: Sabbath, May 7, starting at 5:30 p.m. (after Investiture) at our Chapel in the Woods. Bring hot dogs and other food for your family, as well as roasting sticks. Hot chocolate and s mores will be provided. Roller Skating Social: Tomorrow, Sunday, April 24, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Skate-A-Rama (1010 Huntly Rd, Niles). Snacks will be provided. There is a small fee to skate. Open House: You are invited to an open house to celebrate the marriage of Justin and Maggie Howell on Sunday, May 1, from 2 p.m. 4 p.m. at Dorothy Metzger's house (3320 Old US 31 - Halfway between Berrien Springs and Niles). Come and enjoy looking at the science projects that students have done this quarter. Now Registering: We are now taking applications for next school year. 7 Community & Other Announcements Singles Sabbath: The Edwardsburg Adventist Church (27718 US Hwy 12, Edwardsburg just east of Conrad Rd) has planned a Singles Sabbath for May 21. The speaker will be Laurie Snyman, wife of Royce Snyman. A vegetarian potluck meal will follow the service, as well as an afternoon trumpet concert by Carlot Dorvé, who has a riveting testimony. An evening event/potluck is also planned, time and location to be announced. All Adventist singles are welcome. Plan for an enjoyable day of spiritual rejuvenation. WIN! Comprehensive Health & Family Wellness Ministry Conference, Memorial Weekend, May 27-30, at the Andrews University Seminary Chapel. The conference will emphasize small group ministry and personal health and family relationships. Lead presenter, Wes Youngberg, author of Goodbye Diabetes and Hello Healthy. Register on PlusLine Adventist Heritage Ministry: May 8 marks the 35 th anniversary of AHM, dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage of our Seventh-day Adventist Church. Special commemorative services are planned for April 29 and 30 to be held at Historic Adventist Village in Battle Creek. Beginning with welcoming the Sabbath with a Friday evening Vesper Service at 7:30 in the 1857 Meeting House, special services with pioneer songs and stories will make this a Sabbath to remember. From the opening of Sabbath School at 9:30 until the closing song of Sabbath evening vespers, God will be exalted and praised. Visitors are welcome. You may pre-purchase your Sabbath meals online at Next to the Heritage Shoppe page and at the bottom, you will see the Special Event tab. Enter the number of meals you are purchasing for Sabbath and follow the check out. PLEASE don t ask to pay on the Sabbath for your meals. Camp Au Sable Spring Work Week: We need willing hearts and helpful hands to join together at Camp Au Sable, on Monday, May 2, through Friday, May 6, for our annual Spring Work Week. We have a variety of projects for all ages, such as cleaning, painting, and miscellaneous outdoor work, to name just a few. We are always in need of specialized talents for our plumbing, construction, and mechanical needs. In addition to your work projects, you will eat and sleep well, and have plenty of quality time for personal/family enrichment in God s beautiful camp! Safety Officer Volunteer Application: The Michigan Conference is looking for interested Adventist church members to supplement the Safety Team during this year s Camp Meeting in June. If you are at least 21 years of age, have an interest in, and would like to be considered for such a position, please contact Joel Nephew at jdnephew@misda.org or Andrews University Student Missions Program Fundraiser: Hopkins Studio has agreed to partner with us so that for any of her photography sessions scheduled for April 29 or May 1, she will donate 35% of the proceeds to the SM Department.
