Current news from across the KS-NE Conference View this in your browser The Cutting Edge April 29, 2016 Here's what's happening across our Conference, at least what I've heard about. Feel free to share this with anyone! Our Hispanic Coordinator, Roberto Correa, let me know, "The Conference Evangelism Committee approved 40 evangelistic series for our Hispanic churches in Six churches have already finished with their spring evangelism. God has been so good adding more than 50 new members into our Conference. I like this quote because it summarizes our mission: 'Evangelism is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread' (D T Niles), says Roberto.
"Conference Education Director Gary Kruger and his wife, Davona, spent the Sabbath hours with our Great Bend Church last week," shares Doris Reile-Kneller. "As a part of the service our school teacher, Ms Betty Hay, was called for a special dedication prayer with the elders. This Education Day concluded with a
Vesper program by Ms. Hay emphasizing the importance of Christian Education," says Doris. Most of the Pathfinder Clubs from across our Conference are converging on Camp Arrowhead (Lexington, NE) this weekend for their Spring Camporee. "We're expecting about 300 people coming out to enjoy fun, fellowship and the Pioneering Honor," says Youth/Young Adult Director Tim Floyd. "We have a number of activities and a great program lined up for the weekend. The weather forecast is not the best but the Pathfinder spirit gets through anything!" says Pastor Tim. "Prairie View Adventist School (Chadron, NE) had a Science Fair this past Monday," shares Shauna Kutschara. "All six of the students chose a project and worked on it over the past several weeks. There was a show at the Church that evening for people to come
and see their presentations. The top three received rewards. They all did a wonderful job!" says Shauna. Pastor Mic Henton let me know, "We ve been renovating the Youth Room at College View Church. We ve had awesome help from volunteers, both parents and youth. The teens have been spending their Wednesday evenings for almost two months now painting, building, cleaning, and reconstructing. We re building a prayer and dedication corner, a hot drink bar with cafe style seating, a game room, a new backdrop for the stage, an INFO WALL for updates, and much more. We hope to have it completed by the time Camp Meeting starts," says Pastor Mic.
"The Mid-America Prayer Conference was a great blessing with over 80 people in attendance last weekend in Nebraska City," says Virgil Covel. "Many of those in attendance were young adults as a result of a scholarship provided by the Mid- America Union. Our presenters included our own Ron Carlson and Joe Beazley along with Rich Carlson & Tom Toews from Union College, Mark Piotrowski from the Georgia-Cumberland Conference, Kevin Wilfley from the Washington Conference, and Gail Coridan from the Iowa-Missouri Conference. Deneil Clarke, College View Church worship pastor, did a wonderful job at leading our music. I am so thankful for the tremendous success and blessing this event has been," says Virgil.

"The Chadron RidgeRunners Pathfinders have been working away on sewing on their quilts," says Shauna Kutschara. "They finished them so they could be hung at the quilt show that was held last weekend. Nina, Micaiah, and Makinley had fun learning about this and learning about the Lord," says Shauna.
Pastor Ruth Rivera (KC New Haven associate) drove from Kansas City to Berrien Springs, Michigan yesterday to attend the Seminary graduation ceremonies this weekend. Although she finished her Master of Divinity degree in December, she will march and receive her diploma on Sunday. Congratulations Pastor Ruth! You're looking good with your Kansas City Royals hat! "We are underway with our sanctuary remodel at Wichita South," says Harold Mowery. "We're looking forward to worshiping in a brighter and more welcoming space. May God transform us to be the same," says Harold.
"This week we had Visitors' Day at Valley View School here in Scottsbluff," says Jeannie Costopoulos. "We were thrilled to have more visitors than students. We had seven visitors! We enjoyed a day of buddy and team activities. The activities included giant bubbles, writing stories with a buddy, games in the gym, chalk Bible stories, and a paper airplane contest. My students enjoyed the day tremendously, and we trust our guests did, too. Please join us in praying that God will place the students in our school next year that need to be there," requests Jeannie.
"The students at HaysMaranatha Christian School had a blessed week last week when Pastor Regan led out in the Week of Prayer," says teacher Rita Spears. "Several of the parents were also able to attend and received a blessing, too. We ended the week with Communion," says Rita.
Last Sabbath Piedmont s youth and young adults provided many of the elements of our worship service, shares Vanessa Schaecher. It was also Pastor Andy s last sermon at Piedmont Park. During the service Pastor Michael presented Pastor Andy with a parting gift from our church a baptismal robe! We pray Pastor Andy will have many opportunities to get wet (as Pastor Michael says) as he pastors and spreads the good news about salvation through Christ in Kansas.
"Last Sabbath was a busy day for the Beatrice Church," says Pastor Dean Carlisle. "After the worship service we went out to the park for a picnic potluck. God blessed us with the nicest weather possible and great food too. Afterwards our young adult ministry and Union College friends led the outreach activity taking church invitations, GLOW tracts and digital Prophecy Sticks to people in our community. We made many good contacts including several who asked for prayer," says Pastor Dean.
Pastor Joseph & Raluca Carty (North Platte) welcomed their new daughter, Elliana Grace, on April 15 weighing 6 lbs 7 oz and 20.5" long. Everyone is doing well and they are adjusting to the new combined adventure of parenting and pastoring. Congratulations!
"Spring is always a busy time of year in Scottsbluff!" says Jeannie Costopoulos. "Last Sabbath was our Education Sabbath program at our Hispanic Church. The Valley View students put on the entire worship "Welcome to George Stone School!"says Jenienne Kriegelstein. "For Open House this week, students made a display board about who they are, some things they learned this year, and their goals for next year, ten years and twenty years out. Current families and visitors shared stories, asked questions, looked at curriculum, and talked with the teachers. Alexi Caines and Matthan Sigowa demonstrated lego robotics and the programming they have learned. It was a great reminder of the gift of Adventist education!" says Jenienne.
service and did an amazing job! The students led the singing, performed a skit for the children's story, and performed musical numbers with the chimes as well as our small choir. We may be small, but we are certainly mighty! What a blessing it is to have our church school!" says Jeannie. "Our College View Academy Seniors put together a quick video of all the 'Seven Word Sermons,' they wrote during their Senior Survival weekend," says Principal Brian Carlson.Click here to see it.
Some of the office staff, with my wife's help, celebrated my birthday with me this week. They are such a good group to work with and I'm grateful for another year. Here's what some of us from the office are up to this weekend. Norm & Jan Zimmerman (Trust Services Director) will be worshiping with the Lawrence, KS congregation. Sue Carlson (Women's Ministries Director) is in Lincoln this weekend meeting with the other Women's Ministries Directors from our Union. Virgil Covel (Ministerial Director) will be preaching at the Fremont, NE church tomorrow. Tim Floyd (Youth/Young Adult Director) is in Nebraska at Camp Arrowhead leading out at the Pathfinder Camporee. I will be preaching in North Platte tomorrow then stopping by Camp Arrowhead to visit our Pathfinder clubs at their Spring Camporee. The forecast is for cold and wet! **If you know something that you think would be of interest to other Kansas-Nebraska Adventists, please let me know. I am trying to keep
everyone on the "cutting edge" by sending this out each Friday. Have a wonderful Sabbath!
