5 Church Life Welcome to worship as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus. Remember to take five minutes after church to meet someone new! New Prayer Request: Julianna Sayler (2 nd grade daughter of former members, Eric & Stacie Sayler inoperable brain tumor) Women s Christmas Cookie Exchange: Sunday, December 11, at 1 p.m. at Terri Hebard s house (1010 N Philip Rd, Niles ). Bring 3 dozen cookies (along with 25 copies of the recipes), and a white elephant gift to exchange. Lunch will be provided. Thanksgiving Concert: Tonight at 5 p.m. with recording artist Swehla Hunt. You will want to hear Swehla s amazing voice as she shares a Thanksgiving concert with us right here at Niles Westside. Invite friends and family to come and be inspired by the music. A freewill offering will be taken at the concert. For more information, contact Myrna Hunt. Bible Journaling: Everyone is invited to join this new group to learn how to do Bible Journaling. We meet on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Youth Room to share our ideas and creativity. Community & Other Announcements Andrews Academy will be presenting the 44 th annual Feast of Lights program on Friday, December 9, at 7 p.m. The community is invited to attend this spectacular night of music, Scripture, and drama honoring the King of Kings at Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University. It s an evening of lights, bells, instruments, choral singing, congregational singing, shepherds, a Nativity scene, and the retelling of a glorious Christmas story. You are also invited to an evening of popular Christmas music on Saturday, December 10, at 7 p.m. at the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University. 7 Community & Other Announcements A Blue Christmas Service Invitation: Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently died, or who has been gone for some time and is greatly missed during the holidays. The sadness, grief, and struggles experienced with losing a loved one can make us feel very alone in the midst of the celebrating and spending. For these reasons, the First Seventh-day Adventist Church (1936 Altgeld St, South Bend) offers a special Longest Night service on Tuesday, December 20, at 6:30 p.m. Come out and join with us in sharing and hearing prayers, scripture, and music that acknowledge that God s presence is for those who mourn, for those who struggle - and that God s Word comes to shine light into our darkness. Everyone, regardless of church background (or lack of it), is welcome. The short service will be followed by a brief time for light refreshments and fellowship. Wrap-a-Gift for Refugees: ASAP Ministries is accepting donations of new blankets, hats, socks, scarfs and gloves for refugees from Southeast Asia. Please bring the items to the ASAP office (105 S Cass St, Berrien Springs) before or during the Berrien Springs Christmas Open House on Thursday, December 1, from 6 9 p.m. That night, you are especially invited to help wrap these much-needed Christmas gifts and enjoy refreshments inside and roasting marshmallows outside. Journey to Bethlehem: The LaPorte Adventist Church (1480 Boyd Blvd., LaPorte, IN) invites all to come celebrate the holiday season with a free live nativity program on Friday and Saturday evenings, December 2 & 3, at either 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. Visitors will be treated to live music before beginning their Journey to Bethlehem walk. The 45-minute walk gives visitors a unique look at Mary and Joseph's trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem. They see an angel speak to the shepherds, the wise men meet King Herod, Roman soldiers in the Marketplace, visit the Bethlehem Inn where they are told there is no room, and witness the stable where baby Jesus lay. This journey takes place mostly outof-doors, so visitors are advised to dress with the weather elements in mind, and that the pathway is sometimes on uneven ground. When a marriage ends, the holiday season can be especially painful. Our Surviving the Holidays seminar helps participants prepare for the holidays and even discover hope for the future. On Tuesday, December 6, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., this seminar will be held at Village Adventist Church (635 St Joseph Ave, Berrien Springs). Please call to register for a light supper and program. Adventist Retirees of Michiana: Whether you were denominationally employed or not, Adventist retirees are invited to participate in the Annual Christmas Banquet to be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, at the Village Church Family Center (635 St Joseph Ave, Berrien Springs). Please be advised that there is a charge per plate for those who are *not* members of the Eau Claire, Village or PMC churches. That fee is payable at the time of the banquet. Come and enjoy the fun.
