Communion: Sabbath, July 30, both services. Graduation Open House: Sonya Granvold Next Sunday, July 10, from 2-5 p.m. at st Street, Niles. Come celebrate Sonya s graduation from Berrien Springs High School! Vacation Bible School: July from 9-11:45 a.m. for kids ages 4 12 (grade 6). Please preregister ASAP for VBS at or by contacting Gina Meekma (secretary@nileswestside.org or ). There are also registration forms in the hallway. Invite your neighbors! Needed to Borrow for VBS: Glow paint; handheld UV light; kiddie pools (inflatable or plastic); hula hoops; flameless candles and battery tea lights; camping lanterns; squirt bottles; pool noodles; bean bags; big sponges; tennis balls; and brown or tan tarps. Contact Erica Hippler (jande_hippler@yahoo.com or ) for drop off times. Volunteers are still needed to help during VBS, as well as with preparation beforehand. Please contact Erica or Gina if you can help. To donate towards our VBS program, please mark your tithe envelope VBS. Thank you! Grant Street Viaduct Closed for the Summer: The bridge/viaduct that goes over the train tracks near the church will be closed for repairs through August 26. To detour, use Phillip Rd. from the South, or Platt St. to Christiana Dr. from the North, and plan for extra travel time if you are coming from the City of Niles. Church Directory: Members, please contact Gina, church secretary (secretary@nileswestside.org or ), for information on how to easily access the church directory on your phone, tablet, computer, etc. A black and white printed copy of the directory is available for members upon request.
6 Church Life Cont. Sunday Sunup Runners/Walkers: Are you a runner or walker who would like to exercise with others? Bring a friend and join us on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. at Plym Park. Adventurers is for families with children in Kindergarten - 4 th grade. Starting again in the Fall, we will meet on Monday nights, from 6-7:30 in the NAS gym. Niles Adventist School Grades K 8 ~ William Crawford, Principal ~ Harding s Community Rewards Program: Harding s will give rebates to NAS if you sign up at go to Savings & Rewards, Community Rewards, register, and choose NAS. When you check out at Harding s, remember to type your phone number on the key pad no swipe card needed! Office Hours: The school office will be closed through July 4. Starting July 5, Tuesdays Thursdays, from 9 a.m. 1 p.m., our new Principal, William Crawford, will be in the office. (During VBS, July 11-15, the hours will be approximately 12 1 p.m.) Now Registering: Even though it is summer break, we are taking applications for this coming school year, which begins on Thursday, August 18. Please see our web site or contact the school for registration information. There is a discount on the registration fee if paid by July 15. Please spread the word about NAS, and keep the students, families, and staff in your prayers. We bring our children to Jesus to be touched by His love, trained for service, and educated for Heaven.
7 Community & Other Announcements Religious Liberty Conference: There will be a Union-wide religious liberty conference in Detroit from July 21-24, spearheaded by the Lake Region Conference Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Department. Adventist religious liberty leaders from all levels of the church will be gathering in Detroit to present and attend major presentations on current issues relating to religious liberty, prophecy, and community justice. These will include Liberty magazine editor Lincoln Steed; our GC Representative to Congress, attorney Dwayne Leslie; and the Lake Union PARL Director, attorney, and Andrews Professor, Nicholas Miller. There is an early-bird registration rate available until July 7. Go to to register. In order to accommodate cost and scheduling conflicts, registration for individual days is also available. This event may be of interest for Pastors, PARL Leaders, and any member who has concerns about our uncertain political times and how we can best protect and promote religious freedom. The Adventist Health Initiative - Benton Harbor Presents Dental Missions/Health Expo: You are invited to participate in a free dental/health event coming to Benton Harbor on Sunday, August 21, from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Benton Harbor High School. Participation from Southwest Michigan dental professionals is vital. We need dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants who are community minded and have a desire to provide better health to those in need. Other health professionals are also welcome, such as nurses, physical therapists, physicians assistants, etc. who are willing to help with triage and the Health Expo. Receptionist and data entry help is also needed. To be a part of this rewarding health event, please contact dental coordinator, Randy Griffin, DDS ( or randy.griffin@lakeunion.org) for all dental professionals. For all other health professionals and data entry, please contact Cathy (cathyycole@gmail.com). You may volunteer for a full/half day, depending on your schedule.
