Adult and youth volunteers are needed. Please contact Mike McMahon at to volunteer for this much needed effort.

3 The efforts at facing the AC situation continue. The Master Plan Committee met and clarified the data that would be sent out for bids dealing with the drastic need to replace the AC chillers, piping and controls for the church, school and new addition. Our system was updated with new boilers for these areas. Some of the pumps that move the chilled water and heat to the different facilities have also been updated. However the chillers, pipes, pumps and controls were deemed initially OK at the time. (The recommendation was to use them until they failed.) The years have added up and the time is now upon us to replace some of these items especially the chillers (the big units outside that make the water cold and condition the air). Those units are the big buck items but all the equipment needs to match up to make everything efficient. Things are expensive as you can imagine for such a big place. But there is some good news...because the systems are now more efficient there could be a 7 to 8 year payback savings on energy costs. (In other words, the energy savings over that period would pay for the new system.) That sounds good but it still costs at the beginning which is where we are right now. So let us wait and see. It just needs to be done and possibly some inconvenience during the summer as the changeover takes place! Roast Pork Dinner delicious and it was a great time and filled the house with wonderful aromas! It was good to see so many enjoying themselves and each other s company. Thank you to Liz and all the helpers and volunteers. It all seemed to work so well in our new space. Congratulations on a job well done! The call from the side of the road got Jesus attention even though the disciples and crowds wanted to silence that voice. The blind beggar cried out Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me! He was persistent even when he was being discouraged to speak up He cried out all the more. There were many beggars near the city it was a pilgrimage route to Jerusalem. The pilgrims would realize they From the Desk Of Fr. John needed to share with the needy as they made their way to the Temple. Jesus stopped and told those around him to call the man over. They went to him and told him Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you! The Gospel tells us that He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus asked him what He could do for him and the blind beggar simply asks Master, I want to see! This request is much different than that of the disciples in last Sunday s Gospel. They were seeking power and position. But this man had received clear insight into Jesus and His Messianic Mission. He let go of everything and sprang up to come to Jesus. Jesus gives him his sight but he also receives something else Go your way; your faith has saved you! The man began to follow Jesus up to Jerusalem and to the cross. He was now an authentic disciple who embraced the role of a servant following in the footsteps of his Master in the footsteps of Jesus. We can pray in a simple fashion like the blind beggar and become faithful disciples that embrace the way of Jesus each day. Jesus journey with the disciples has now arrived in Jerusalem we have skipped over the triumphal entry and the cleansing of the temple since they fit into another season. These will be Jesus last days before His passion but they will not be quiet days. Jesus will face all kinds of challenges. They will come from the Chief priests the scribes the Pharisees the Sadducees and finally from one of His own disciples which would lead to the cross. But our passage for this Sunday is a deep and insightful moment a question from a sincere scribe and a beautiful response. The question Which is the first of all the commandments, and the Lord responded with the Shema Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God you shall love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus places them together that is how we are to live in love of God love of neighbor! Good words to us in all that has transpired in our world lately. Now let us see if we can understand how to put it into real practice.

Annual Catholic Services Appeal Thank you to those who have already given so generously to the Annual Catholic Services Appeal (ACSA). The theme In Gratitude for God s Abundant Blessings focuses on how we can all work together to care for the Church s people by sharing God s gifts. Contributions to ACSA support ministries and services that reach across parish boundaries. Some very important services are beyond the resources of most parishes, including Ss. Peter and Paul. You will have the opportunity to hear about the ministry during the Ministry Moment before Mass, talk to ministry members about their service after Mass, and review materials available about the ministry.
