Your ACSA Participation: Working Together to Help All Succeed This weekend you have the opportunity to support the Annual Catholic Services Appeal, if you haven t already, as we participate in the in-pew phase of the appeal. Our parishioners have already generously donated about one third of our goal/assessment of $93,000. Remember that the funds from this appeal support ministries and services that reach across parish boundaries to help all succeed. This is a wise use of resources that eliminates needless duplication. The appeal supports Education Services, Formation and Renewal, Justice/Outreach, Family and Youth, Seminary and Clergy, Finance Services and other areas for parishes and the diocese. Some very important services are beyond the resources of most parishes, including Ss. Peter and Paul. For example, it supports the formation of seminarians and deacons. In addition, we use these services to support our RCIA program and other faith formation activities. The diocese provided direction and loan service for our current building project. Other services assist our school and youth groups. Your gift to the Annual Catholic Services Appeal helps make all this possible! KC Christmas Parties The K.C. Ladies Auxiliary Christmas party and dinner is Thursday, December 1, at the K.C. Hall on Hwy 157. This event is for members only. The cost is $5 per person. Contact Susie Reed at There will be a brief meeting at 6 pm. Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. There will be an Ugly Sweater Contest. Please bring a wrapped item valued at a minimum of $5 for the Gift Exchange. No gag gifts, please! In addition, we will be collecting boxes of brownie mix to be included in Christmas baskets. Our goal is 200 boxes. Your generosity is very much appreciated. The KC family Christmas Party will be December 5 at 6:30 pm. It will feature a visit from Santa Claus. Children are welcome. If you are bringing children please bring a wrapped present for each child. 3 Continued wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving! This weekend many families continue to gather together and share this precious time before the full onrush of the Holiday Season. It gives us pause to reflect on the great gifts God has shared with us and to offer Him Thanksgiving! We may watch the children playing relatives coming and going some taking naps and others engaged in conversation or watching sports. These moments are very precious and the stuff of memories and deepening relationships of love and friendship. We gather with our big family...the family of our church...to celebrate the great mystery of God s unconditional love for us and experience the depth of his extraordinary mercy. The Eucharist is the center of our life as Catholics it is the very love of Christ given as food for our journey. Jesus forms us and empowers us to grow, live and build our lives together as a living Church built of living stones. Let s keep doing this together and reaching out to invite others to experience this great gift of life and love in Christ. Growing, Living, and Building Together is our capital campaign to expand our church and refurbish and upgrade some of our facilities. Thank you to so many who have volunteered to help with this monumental task. Thank you to those so generous to pledge to the campaign and help us reach our goal. This is now our turn when it comes to meeting our needs for the present and the future. We have done much with our first campaign using those monies almost exclusively for school...replacing the old boiler adding AIR CONDITIONING (a major, major task and $$$) and completely remodeling the bathrooms! Now we focus on the larger community and the church building, parking etc. Thank you again for all your spirit of support and generosity. The Feast of Christ the King brought to a close the Extraordinary Year of Mercy established by Pope Francis last year. The Gospel for this liturgical year was from St. Luke who truly celebrates God s mercy embodied in Jesus as Pope Francis said Jesus is the visible face of the Father s mercy. The Gospel of Sunday s Feast was the passion account from St. Luke at the scene of the From the Desk Of Fr. John crucifixion of Jesus. We see and hear the very words of Jesus expressing and generously sharing that gift of mercy Father forgive them and again to the good thief Today you will be with me in paradise. We celebrate the faith with the simple and humble testimony of that good thief and we too want to join him in his profession of faith in Jesus whom he recognizes as King. Jesus has ultimate authority in heaven and earth in life and in death. We seek to serve him alone in all things. Now we enter the season of Advent and the Gospel changes to St. Matthew s account of the life and ministry of Jesus. This Sunday helps us to keep proper perspective about our lives and our destiny. This life is truly a gift of God and yet we will experience an even greater good in the Kingdom of Heaven. We are to live life in expectation of Christ s second coming and the fullness of the Kingdom to be revealed. But we are urged to be ready, vigilant, and watchful as Christians in good times as well as in the times of trial. We are called to witness our faith and spread it to others. We do not have a timetable as to the coming of Christ at the end of time so we must live each day in expectation of his arrival. Our lives are to be authentic in every way. So our preparation during Advent is focused on the second coming of the Lord but also to prepare to celebrate when He first came as a child incarnate of the Virgin Mary. Let s keep it all in perspective as the Gospel tells us So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come. Advent Penance Services Wed. Nov. 30 at 6:30 pm (also 1st Reconciliation) and Thursday, Dec. 1 at 12:30pm. Come Pray with Us will be held Sunday, Dec. 4 beginning after 10:30 am Mass with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during the afternoon (come spend an hour or at least some time) before the Lord. There will be a special service closing with Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament at 6:30 pm.

Please take them home, fill them and return them to church. Sharing With Our Community: The Giving Tree It s that time of year again. Please select your tag from the Giving Tree now and make someone s Christmas morning special! The tags have items listed from each individual s wish list. These lists are suggestions. You may purchase something from this list or something of your own choice. Each person in each family has 3 tags on the tree to represent the 3 gifts from the Magi to the Christ Child. Please do not feel like you have to buy everything on the list. When you select a tag from the tree, please fill in the requested information on the Tag Registration Sheet. This is important! Should you misplace your tag, I will have a record of which one you selected. If you take a tag and then feel you cannot provide a gift, please return the tag to the tree and call me so I can remove your name from the registration sheet. Please return your wrapped gift to the Baptismal area by Sunday, December 11. The RCIA will then delivery these gifts to each family. The best gift you can give this person is your prayers. Please include them in your daily prayers so that he/she may know the love of Christ through the generosity of our parish family. From His hands, feet, and side the Most Sacred Blood was flowing. After some time, Jesus said to me, All this is for the salvation of souls. Consider well, My daughter, what you are doing for their salvation. I answered, "Jesus, when I look at Your suffering, I see that I am doing next to nothing for the salvation of souls." And the Lord said to me, Know, My daughter, that your silent day-to-day martyrdom in complete submission to My will ushers many souls into heaven. And when it seems to you that your suffering exceeds your strength, contemplate My wounds, and you will rise above human scorn and judgment. Meditation on My Passion will help you rise above all things (Diary, 1184). My Prayer Response: Inspire me, Lord Jesus, to consider what I can do for the salvation of souls. Growing, Living, Building Together Campaign Prayer Dear Lord, we know everything we have comes from you. You came to show us that life consists of giving. Open our hearts to recognize the need to enlarge our gathering space, to improve accessibility, and to upgrade our facilities so they may be more welcoming to parishioners and visitors. Teach us to be generous as you are generous. Show us the joys of giving. Inspire us to give sacrificially and cheerfully according to our means. 6 Watch for Transformation Tuesday Two Minutes...Every Tuesday...Two PM Inspired by The Jesus Question by Matthew Kelly: Who do they say I am? Hosts: Deacon Jimmy and Aaron Emig Beginning November 29, we will be recapping the Gospel from the prior Sunday and give action steps and resources to transform our lives for that week. Each episode will air at 2 p.m. every Tuesday at Morris Hall, the parish website, our Facebook page, our YouTube Channel along with audio versions available on itunes Podcast and SoundCloud A Game That Celebrates the True Meaning of Christmas The Christmas Star From Afar encourages children to go on a hunt for their Star, similar to that of the Wise Men. Every day the Star is found in a different place and the children participate in the fun game to locate it. Once they have found their Star they move all Three Wise Men to its location. On Christmas morning the Three Wise Men reach their final destination when the Star is found at the stable with the newborn baby Jesus. The activity book includes a wooden Star, a full wooden nativity scene that matches the artwork of the book, and optional scripture to use throughout the month. You can easily combine the Star From Afar with other traditions your family participates in. Consider placing a little surprise or sweet with your Star every day to make this fun game more like an Advent Calendar. $35 (on sale until Nov 30 or as long as they are available) May be purchased at the Parish Office, School Office and after most Masses during November. Make checks payable to Ss. Peter and Paul Parish. Support Our Priests of Tomorrow The Knights of Columbus annual Vocations Support Program to raise funds for our local seminarians is nearing a close. Green raffle booklets are available in the Church. You can win cash prizes of up to $10,000. Tickets are $1; a booklet is $15. Please take a booklet and return it with the completed stubs and green cover intact and your money to the KC Hall no later than December 2. You can also drop them off at the parish office and we will get them to the KC. Please Join Our Prayer Vigil To unite our faith community as disciples of Christ, Adoration and a Prayer Vigil will be celebrated Sunday, December 4, immediately following 10:30 am Mass. Adoration will begin at noon and six one-hour slots of time are available for adoration. Various ministries are encouraged to fill the hour slots. We encourage all our parishioners to pray for the growth of our spiritual home and to come together for the closing Prayer Vigil at 6:30 pm, which will include Benediction, scripture and song. Refreshments will follow in Morris Hall.
