3 Jot From John We re off to a fantastic start in Awana clubs with 76 children enrolled and 30 adult leaders helping children memorize scripture and learn about Jesus. We d love for you to join our team, on mission to our kids. Come Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and let God use you to serve Him and others. Please pray for Awana clubs. Our choir is singing the Christmas musical How Great Our Joy, along with First Baptist Church, Charlotte on Dec. Sat. 15th and Sun. 16th. We d love for you to share in this joyful ministry. Musical rehearsals are every Wednesday from 8:15-9:00 p.m. in the choir room. CD tracks are available to help learn your part. We also meet from 7:45-8:15 p.m. to rehearse Sunday s music. All are welcome to either or both rehearsals. Pray for Lisa and I as we leave for New York City on Monday, Oct. 8th to minister with the Singing Men of Texas, singing at Carnegie Hall, Central Park, leading in worship at Christian Bible Church in Yonkers Sunday morning, and participating in the Tuesday night prayer service at Brooklyn Tabernacle. Thank you for all you do to support and love us as we continue our ministry along side each of you. You ve blessed us for 38 years and we give thanks for all God has done in our life through you. Love and blessings to you, John & Lisa Dear Fellow Laborers: I miss you so much! Thank you for the meals, cards, visits, loaned-items and prayers! They are encouraging us so much and helping me to get back SOON! Mom has been ill during this time as well so its been a marathon for Bob-which I must say-he has run with amazing endurance! We are all so thankful for our church family and your prayers and kindnesses! I ve been keeping up with A Life Beyond Amazing and cannot wait to get back to classes on Sunday nights! I also long to be back working beside you in this labor of love God gives us! Revelation 22:20-21 SAYS IT PERFECTLY: 20. He who testifies to these things says, Surely I am coming quickly. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! 21. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. A laborer with you, Jeanne Ulrich First Baptist will be honoring the clergy of our church during the month of October. The month of October has been designated as Clergy Appreciation Month. We would like to honor Bro. John Coleman and Bro. Brian Avery during the month of Oct. We will be receiving cards and a Grocery Pounding on Sunday, October 7th, for Bro. John and Lisa. Sunday, October 14th, for Bro. Brian, Tammy and children. Sunday, October 21st will be Clergy Appreciation Sunday, we will honor all of the Clergy with special recognition to them and their families with a covered dish luncheon. If you are not sure what to buy for a Grocery Pounding, gift cards from HEB and Wal-Mart would be welcome. There will be Love Offering envelopes in the pews. This is a time to hold up our Ministers and families in special prayer. We are so blessed to have two wonderful men of God and we want to reach out and let them know how much we love and appreciate them. Thank you for your participation in this time of blessing those who endeavor to bless us. Remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thess. 1:3, ESV YOU can make a difference in a child s life. Samaritan s Purse collected 11.5 million shoebox gifts that will be delivered to boys and girls in over 100 countries. Everyone of these boxes represents a precious child of God, many of whom have never received a gift before in their lives. A shoebox gift is a tangible expression of God s love. Some also have never heard the Good News of the Savior who loves them and offers them eternal life. 1. Get a shoebox for a girl or boy, label it & mark the age group. 2. Include a Wow toy such as doll, soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal. 3. Add other fun toys, hygiene items & school supplies. 4. Most importantly, pray for the child who receives your gift. We will be accepting boxes until Sun. Nov. 11th. Things not to put in your box: candy; food; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items; seeds; liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins; breakable items or glass containers; and aerosol cans.
4 Update from Pastor Search Committee Please continue to pray for our Pastor Search Committee and for the man whom God has already set aside for us as our next pastor. Your prayers are greatly appreciated and are being felt. Pastor Search Committee Vernon Sivage, Madelyn Bird, Jacob Henson, Tammy Henson, Rodger Lewis, Joe Lopez, Dillon Myers, Christel Nieschwitz, Linda Porter, Carole Shipley Thanksgiving Meals Main Street Outreach in Pleasanton will be providing free Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day Thursday, November 22nd for Atascosa County to the elderly, low-income, and homeless families. If you know someone in need, have them call the church office Last year s Thanksgiving Dinner was a great success. Many volunteers helped & 1000 people were served from Pleasanton, Leming, Charlotte, Poteet, Campbellton, Christine and Jourdanton. We have been so lucky that we have always been able to feed everyone that needs a meal. We can always use volunteers: people to prepare the food, drivers and helpers for Thanksgiving Day, and clean up crew. We have whole families come to help. If you would be interested in volunteering, please call the church office Christmas Village 2018 Friday, Dec. 7th Sunday Dec. 9th The Living Christmas Village is around the corner and we will begin construction in the months ahead. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) God has a wonderful plan for your life! I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10b) Walking Down the Romans Road to Salvation. Because of our sin, we are separated from God. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) The Penalty for our sin is death. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) The penalty for our sin was paid by Jesus Christ! But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) If we repent of our sin, then confess and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved from our sins! For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10) To receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, Pray to receive God s forgiveness by faith.
