1 Connect with God, Connect with others, Connect others with God all through Jesus C H U R C H H I G H L I G H T S October, 2018 Did you know that just by doing one simple thing we were taught as children to do you could be much, much happier? In fact, studies show by doing this one thing you will: Be more content and less materialistic Be more empathetic and forgiving Drastically reduce levels of stress Sleep deeper and feel rested Greatly increase the quality of your relationships Be healthier emotionally and mentally Improve your sense of wellbeing Deepen your relationship with God and understanding of His goodness There are lots of clues all over this page so you already know I am talking about being thankful, but did you know gratitude is to relationship what miracle-grow is to plants? That s right. In the same way that miracle-grow both protects plants from harmful diseases and nourishes them to become strong, healthy, and fruitful, so being thankful can bring healing and health to your relationships in a way that makes everyone win. This literally means that you will feel dramatically better about yourself, the people in your life, and God when you choose to say Thank you. This is why the Bible teaches us in 1 Timothy 4:4-5 that, Everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. It is God s will for you and I to give thanks in everything, and I have learned that life does not need to be perfect for me to be grateful Yet in some mystical way, being grateful gets life very close to perfection. The best way I know to learn this is to set aside a few minutes each day to write out 10 things from the previous 24 hours that you are grateful for and find a way to say thank you to whoever is responsible. I can t think of any other exercise that requires so little effort while producing such a large, life-changing reward.

2 Our Youth Sunday School Classes are participating in Samaritan's Purses Operation Shoebox this year. For the past 25 years, Samaritan s Purse has been collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts and delivers them to children in need around the world. Each of these boxes is an opportunity for a boy or girl to experience the love of God in a tangible way and to hear the Gospel. Each Youth Sunday School Class will fill 2 adult size shoeboxes with gifts for a boy and girl (ages 2 to 14) with items like: Stuffed Animals, Puzzles, Coloring books, Socks, Hair Supplies. Once the boxes are shipped, the Sunday School Classes will be able to follow the journey of the box to see which county the box has gone too and who receives their gifts. Along with filling the boxes, we also need to send $9.50 per box to help with shipping the boxes over seas. Anyone with spare changes that would like to help with this cost can find containers marked Operation Shoebox around the building where you can place donations in. The Sunday School Classes are very excited about our Christmas Outreach Project. Sunday November 18th 5 pm Please join us for our annual Harvest Supper and Celebration.
