3 Jot From John We ve had a blessed summer with a super VBS with 50 professions of faith, youth camp at Alto Frio with 2 professions of faith and family camp at H.E.Butt Foundation camp with 5 professions of faith. Along with these decisions, we ve seen many seeds planted for the Lord and many who were encouraged in their walk with our Lord. We thank God for using us to proclaim His Word and seeing lives changed as they encounter His saving grace in their lives. Next Wednesday, August 8th at 6:30 p.m. I will begin a David Jeremiah DVD Bible study series on the fruits of the Spirit called, A Life Beyond Amazing. Each week we ll be guided through one of the fruits of the spirit, explaining what it means to live a life of love, joy, peace, endurance, compassion, generosity, integrity, humility and self-discipline, and how to live a Spirit-filled life. There is a study book available for $10. Our senior adults used this Bible study this past year and loved the messages that it brought. We ll meet in the Old Fellowship Hall. In Sept., when Awana clubs begin, we ll move our study to Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. As we prepare for school to start, pray for our children, our parents, our teachers and for our Awana club leaders. Awana club kick off is Wed., Sept. 5th from 5:30 7:00 p.m. with a block party which will have hot dogs, snow cones, pop corn and bounce houses and registration. Our first full Awana club night will be Sept. 12th at 6:00 p.m. with worship, games, and scripture study and memory. Awana clubs is for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. We also need adults to help. This is a great ministry that will bless you. We need your help as we teach our children God s Word. Pray that God would provide us a new game leader. Gip Keeton and family are in the process of moving to another town. God bless you, Brother John New Women s Bible Study from Dr. David Jeremiah by Caryl Hudson THE GOD YOU MAY NOT KNOW Tuesday September 4th 6:30 P.M. in the Old Fellowship Hall New Bible Study A Life Beyond Amazing By John Coleman Starts Wed. August 8th 6:30 P.M. in the Old Fellowship Hall The books cost $10.00 In this A Life Beyond Amazing, Dr. David Jeremiah describes the divinely empowered life that is possible for followers of Christ. Between introductory and concluding messages, Dr. Jeremiah explores each of the nine traits of a Spirit filled life as outlined by apostle Paul who called these traits the fruit of the Spirit that produce a life beyond amazing. Big Apple Mission Project to NYC Oct. 11th 17th, 2018 John & Lisa Coleman will be participating with the Singing Men of South Texas. Please pray for this mission endeavor. If you would like to help with this mission expense, please mark your gift to NYC missions. There is a need of $890 to meet the mission cost. Update from Pastor Search Committee We continue to covet your prayers as we are in the process of searching for FBC s new pastor. (John 3:16) God has a wonderful plan for your life! I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10b) Walking Down the Romans Road to Salvation. Because of our sin, we are separated from God. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) The Penalty for our sin is death. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) The penalty for our sin was paid by Jesus Christ! But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) If we repent of our sin, then confess and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved from our sins! For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10) To receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, Pray to receive God s forgiveness by faith.
5 Child Development Center As our summer is coming to an end, the FBCCDC staff is getting ready for the upcoming school year. We are all looking forward to a wonderful year with all of our families. Thank you for your support and for allowing us the opportunity to be an important part of your child s life. As we get ready to close out the school year, the children have spent the summer learning about the changes in weather and ways to stay cool-there have been many splash days! Each Monday the older children walk to the Pleasanton Library to watch a movie. The month of August begins with the older children having an art day with the Art on Main and with Pre K-4 class taking a trip to the San Antonio Aquarium. August 24th will be the last day for our Schoolers Camp and a fun day has been planned for them. We are currently still enrolling children in our Pre K-4 class. At First Baptist Church Child Development Center, we are committed to excellence in the field of early childhood education. Our curriculum is based on a developmental approach to the following areas when planning activities for our classrooms-cognitive, language, science, social, motor, music, art, and character. By creating repetitive and multi-sensory experience for children at each of the developmental stages, we encourage all the children entrusted to our care to develop to the best of their ability, helping to secure them on a path of success in all of their future endeavors. Play with a purpose is the fundamental method of our teaching and learning in the program. In addition, all of the classes in a specific age group work on the same theme at the same time to create continuity as the child progresses in our program. Classroom routines are designed to provide consistency and predictability for our children. Each day our students enjoy committed times of group interaction, individual instruction and independent play. For more information on availability or to view our facility, please contact our Director, Nancy Kennerly at ( or fbccdc1@att.net As stated in the previous Newsletter, I promised to update with corrections to the new 150th Year Celebration History Book: 1.
