2 Welcome to our celebration of Pentecost! We remember the power of the Holy Spirit revealed like wind and flame, and trust in the Spirit s ongoing work in the church and world. Be thoughtful, honor God and welcome one another. Before the service, speak to God; During the service, let God speak to you; After the service, speak with all. PRELUDE (*Congregation standing, if able.) Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling arr. Raymond Haan GREETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS INTROIT GLOSSBRENNER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 713 Church Street Mount Joy, Pennsylvania The Rev. Timothy Carl Anderman, Pastor Matthew Davis, Children & Youth Director Bob Waters, Liturgist MAY 20, :30 A.M. DAY OF PENTECOST CONFIRMATION/RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS Surely the Presence of the Lord * CALL TO WORSHIP (Based on the song, God s Not Dead by the Newsboys) Leader: Let love explode and bring the dead to life! A love so bold that brings forth a revolution in grace! People: Now we are immersed in your freedom Lord, set free from the confines of my sins! Leader: Let hope arise and make the darkness hide, for when faith seems dead, we need His resurrection! People: For God is not dead; He is surely alive! He is living on the inside, roaring like lion! Leader: So let heaven and earth roar and fire fall! Come Lord, shake the ground with the sound of revival! People: God is not dead! He is surely alive! He is living on the inside, roaring like a lion! * HYMN Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing No. 400 OPENING PRAYER (Unison): (Based on Ephesians 3) Dear Lord, our God, may we always be ready to bow before you on our knees, showing all honor and respect to who you are and what you have done for us in Jesus. Humbly we ask that you grant that we be strengthened in our inner, deepest, most personal self with the power of your Spirit. May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith, as we are rooted and grounded in your love. And may we begin to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length, and height and depth of your grace and mercy, as we receive your promise and renew our commitments in your Covenant this day. Do far more with us O Lord, than we could ever imagine on our own. Now and forever, in the name of Christ we pray. Amen. CHILDREN S MESSAGE ANTHEM Who Will Teach the Children?
