2 ENTRANCE ANTIPHON WELCOME The parishioners of St. Andrew Catholic Church are happy to extend a warm welcome to the many visitors who join us for worship today. St. Andrew Parish, a Roman Catholic community, seeks to nurture the faith and serve the needs of parishioners and visitors by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through active stewardship, ministries of word and sacrament, programs of Christian formation,and works of charity and justice. GUIDELINES FOR THE RECEPTION OF HOLY COMMUNION As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Mass when we receive Holy Communion, the true Body and Blood of the Lord. Yet, we Catholics should receive Holy Communion only when we are living in communion with the Catholic Church and in the state of sanctifying grace and have made the appropriate fast from food and drink. Because of the connection we draw between being in full communion with the Catholic Church and receiving Holy Communion, we cannot invite those who are not Catholic to share in Holy Communion with us. Still, we welcome all to this celebration of the Mass as our brothers and sisters, and pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit will one day draw us closer that all may be 2 one. Gift Shop: The Parish Gift Shop has Advent Wreaths, Advent Candles and Advent Calendars both in English and Spanish. The gift shop is open in the front vestibule of the church before and after each Mass. Senior Luncheon: The first Senior Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Villa Romano Restaurant. Save the date, details in next week s bulletin. February and March will follow. Help4Kids Van: The Help 4 Kids van will be at the CLC Parking lot on Friday, Dec9 from 7:30 am to 2 pm. Help4Kids is a non profit organization that assists hundreds of Horry County children and their families. This collection will focus on old toys and games. Any and all clean and useful items, including household goods, adult and children s clothing, toys, and non-perishable food items are gratefully accepted at allof their collections. For the Last Time the donation boxes on the votive candle stands in the Chapel in St. Andrews Church have been broken into and ruined. From now on, if you would like to make a donation for the lighting of a votive candle, please place your donation into one of the envelopes in the pew back racks and mark it candle and place it into the collection basket at Mass. Saturdays, December 3, 10, 11 & 17 from 3:00-4:00 pm Dear St. Andrew, PRINCIPAL S CORNER Next week, our second grade class will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Pope Francis tells us during this Year of Mercy, Do not be afraid! God is waiting for you! God is a Father and he is always waiting for us! It is so wonderful to feel the merciful embrace of the Father in the Sacrament of Reconciliation to discover that the confessional is a place of mercy, (Pope Francis message for the 31 World Youth Day). I pray that we are all examples to our children and that we too experience the peace and love of this beautiful sacrament of healing. The school has printed special prayer cards with the names of each of our second grade students on them. If you find it in your heart, please take a card and pray for a child who will receive this sacrament for the first time next week. Pray that this First Reconciliation will turn into many, and that these children will always enjoy the gift of love and mercy offered by our Father. Thank you! 13 CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH Big News: the Catechism of the Catholic Church is back in the Pews! 7,262 went home already! One of the greatest achievements of Pope John Paul II was the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This Catechism will serve as the standard for all future catechisms. A sure norm for teaching the Faith, as the Pope said. Please take and study this Catechism in your own home. This Catechism costs $5.00 each. Inside the front cover of each book you will find an ENVELOPE as follows: Dear Sister or Brother in Christ: This Catechism of the Catholic Church is a most handy summary of the Faith that we profess as Christians.
