4 Service time change Several people have asked vestry members if the service time can be changed from 9 to 9:30. The Vestry decided to take a survey of the congregation before any change is made. If you have an opinion about this either way, please express your concerns to a vestry member. You can do this through or face to face. We will collect opinions and bring them to a vote at Vestry meeting next month. addresses: Rick Daughenbaugh (h) (c) richarddaughenbaugh@mac.com, Lee Ann Beachell iamlabeachell@gmail.com Josh Wimberly jcwimberly@gmail.com Bill Fletcher bajjfletch@aol.com, Beth Gillion bgillion@gillionlaw.com Linda Fassig linda.l.carter8@gmail.com, Smoot Major smajor@southalabama.edu, John Hicks jhbears2002 2yahoo.com Robbie Lowther rslowther@bellsouth.net Sharing Faith dinners is a program that Bishop Kendrick is trying to get started in our area. Please read the description below and see if this is something that you would be interested in hosting or moderating. Please let Joy, Rick, Lee Ann or Lois know if you are interested. Basically, Sharing Faith dinners is a gathering of 6-10 people for storytelling, beginning with a simple meal, in locations in your area, including parishioner homes. The purpose is to provide a place for Episcopalians to come together over a meal and get to know each other by sharing faith stories based on questions on story cards. Sharing personal faith stories help us to deepen our own faith, and hearing others' stories of God's presence in their lives brings us into deeper relationship with each other. The person who would be in charge of your church would identify the 1. hosts for the dinners, and 2. moderators for the dinners. Materials for each gathering, including a deck of Sharing our Faith cards and tablecards (printed guidelines for Sharing our Faith), will be mailed to coordinators at their church address the first week of May (one packet for each dinner). Coordinators are responsible for delivering the packets to hosts before the event so they are available for the moderator when he or she arrives for the event. For complete information about this program, go to sharingfaithdinners.com and download the information. The date of the dinner that will take place, hopefully, throughout the diocese, is June 1st, Speaking of food we are happy to introduce Lorenzo Ferguson of FitKit Foods who is renting our kitchen on Fridays. Lorenzo started cooking in our kitchen last Friday. According to Facebook: If you are Tired of the typical diet foods with zero flavor and little to no seasonings.. Your-Way FitKits is healthy fast food delivered to you at your convenience! Our food is derived from local markets and locally grown veggies! We take pride in fresh ingredients that add just the right amount of Southern Flavor so no more plain foods. FitKits are full of just the right amount of Southern! On Facebook: Your-Way FitKits or

Some of the topics will include the Book of Common Prayer, Scripture, Reason and Tradition, Sacraments, and The Church Calendar and Lectionary. While the class is primarily for those wishing to be confirmed or received into the Church, anyone who wishes to learn more about the Church is welcome to attend. Our sessions are informal and ALL questions are encouraged! If you are interested in attending, please sign up using the form posted on The Food Pantry: We need cereal, grits, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, canned meats, (no more "helper meals" please- we often have no matches) soup, canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned stew, canned meals of any sort - Chef Boyardi etc., macaroni and cheese, dried beans and rice. 7 calendar?oeidk=a07edtyo89x640c23d0a day of workshops offering resources and training designed to support and strengthen your congregational vitality. Lunch will be provided. There is no cost to attend. Donations will be accepted. In order for each church to have representation at Discipleship Day, please organize a group to attend from your church of no more than six people. Participants will choose to attend from one of the following workshops: MUSIC WORKSHOP: CAN THESE BONES LIVE? Presenter: Dent Davidson from the Diocese of Chicago For church musicians, choir members, clergy, wors hip leaders, and worship participants. Just as the Breath of God awakened, enlivened and inspired the Valley of Dry Bones, so the Gift of Song has the capacity to form, connect, unite, and liberate the People of God in our Church today. We will explore the power of song and its deep connection to Congregational Vitality, using resources that range from The Hymnal 1982 to "Paperless Music" to Improvisation. The material is useful for congregations small and large, and very adaptable to unique situations. We will also look at liturgy as a whole, making this workshop useful (and fun!) for anyone who leads and participates in worship. EVANGELISM WORKSHOP: (participants who register for the evangelism workshop will attend both of these workshops over two sessions). HOME: FROM THE FRONT DOOR TO THE KITCHEN Presenter: Mike Orr from the Diocese of Colorado For all church members. An intersection of communications strategy, formation, and membership growth. Discover the strategies employed by healthy, growing churches to create intentional environments where relationships grow deeper with God and with one another. Explore how hospitality can move guests to engage and explore life in a church community and eventually become members of the family, themselves inviting new friends and neighbors to come for dinner and stay for the nurture and nourishment of community. DIGITAL DISCIPLES: FOLLOWING JESUS, TODAY Presenter: Jenn Johnson, missioner for communciations for the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast For church communicators and evangelists. This workshop will lead you through various communication methods, and how to tell your story beyond print. We will talk about why print is still relevant, and learn why the internet and social media are changing the way people share their faith with others, and how we can engage our communities outside our churches by sharing our walk with Jesus. VESTRY WORKSHOP: EQUIPPED Presenters: Bishop Russell, Dwight Babcock, and the Church Pension Group (CPG)For church leaders, senior wardens/vestry members. This workshop will take a look at the unique dynamics of congregational leadership, explore the concept of vestry as ministry, and review practical ways to enrich the experience of being on the vestry. Learn how your church may save on church

8 property insurance and health insurance, including the use of Health Saving Accounts. Information will be shared on grants and scholarships available for churches plus resources to help you learn more about your church and local community. Church Pension Group (CPG) will provide an overview on the recent changes to clergy pensions and other related plans that are administered by CPG. PASTORAL CARE: GOING OUT THE FRONT RED DOOR IN COMMUNITY INTO THE WORLD Presenter: the Rev. Deacon Joanna Seibert from St. Mark's, Little Rock, Arkansas Open to anyone interested in pastoral care. This workshop will give an overview of pastoral care ministries and programs with an emphasis on specific practical ways to implement these ministries depending on the congregation size and experience. The importance of pastoral care as a shared ministry will be emphasized. In depth details of specific ministries such as Recovery Ministries of the Episcopal Church, Walking the Mourner's Path, and Community of Hope will be highlighted.
