SENIOR WARDEN REPORT December 31, Today, New Year s Eve, a cold, wet uncomfortable day, our attendance was 75! Great turnout. Thank you. 2. Total deposit for the last Sunday in 2017 was $5, Plate and Pledge was $4, EXCELLENT stewardship. YOU have done an admirable job of maintaining your pledges to God, to help us do his ministries. 3. We must not get complacent and let the ministries coast and not grow. Our task is to assist and help more people who need assistance. You, the Redeemer congregation, are doing great work. Every church knows what Redeemer does, and so does the Bishop. He keeps Redeemer close because he knows we deliver on our ministries. One of the requirements of the Lily grant is to grow current ministries and develop new ones to the best of our ability. The Wednesday night Café meal is a good example of fulfilling a tenant of the Lily grant. The Blessing Boxes are also an example of increasing our presence to 5. Budgeted income for 2017 is $180, Final Plate and Pledge in 2017 is $183, YOU DID IT!!! Your pledging surpassed BUDGETED INCOME by $2, Thank you for being faithful in your pledging stewardship. I am so very proud of our Redeemer family. God has surely blessed us with Pastor Joy, it s leadership, the wonderful volunteers, and the leaders of our ministries, and last, but not least, your Vestry. 7. I do not know what the exact expenses are at this time. I know we have met the budgeted and actual numbers or are very, very close to breaking even. I will get the most current figure from our treasurer. 8. Average Sunday Attendance (ASA) = 88!!! Two years ago, we were averaging around 50 (on the high side, closer to the mid-40 s) per month. This is an increase of 53%!! 9. The large screen television in the Parish Hall is ready for presentations and program viewing. 10. We are in need of an electrician to cut into an outlet box power wire and install a 2-

4 outlet box in the attic area above the television to keep all of the power and connection cables high. This is done so the cables and power supply to the television are not disturbed or accidentally pulled out of 11. their connections during use. Habitat for Humanity workers from Kansas State arrive today and will be staying in the Parish House until next Saturday.

5 Cooks, plan to meet at the parish house at 1PM. We need to start the gumbo and allow time for it to simmer for a few hours. This week will be similar to last week, where all of the work is in the first couple of hours, so you can expect to go home early. Volunteers needed for the Altar Guild, Receptions, Tellers (deposit assistant on Sunday). Please consider serving in one of these important ministries. As usual, we will need desserts, servers and dishwashers. And since this is the first Wednesday of the month, we should also have our musicians on hand to jam...what a treat! Life Changes Support Ministry This year we will have a Remembrance Tree placed in the Narthex to recall and celebrate the friends and family members who are no longer in our physical presence. You are encouraged to bring an ornament with the name of the person you are remembering and celebrating on it. The ornament can be something you have that reminds you of them, or it can be one you make. On the 4 th Sunday of Advent the tree will be lighted. 6 Coats and clothing will be provided to men, women and children who are homeless in our area. Trinity Episcopal Church along with her many friends will provide these warm coats and clothes. In order to do this, I do need your help in collecting coats and warm clothing. PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 2018 Ask and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches find, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: On Friday, January 26, 2018, Mobile s Housing First will host the people of Mobile County and the surrounding areas who are homeless and in need. These children of God will gather at the Fair Grounds on Ziegler Road to receive a variety of services such as medical and dental assessments and treatment, replacement of identifications cards, laundry services, haircuts, housing interviews for placement, VA interviews and assistance, legal assistance to resolve or clear outstanding legal issues and many other services. Please search your closets and dressers, ask your friends, neighbors and co-workers to do the same and bring those coats, pants, sweaters and shirts you no longer wear and donate them to this worthwhile project. While you are out Christmas shopping and at the New Year s sales, pick up a package of new socks or underwear for men, women or children; gloves and hats are also welcome. I ask you please to donate these valuable treasures to friends in need to shelter them from the January cold. Artists' Place Gallery Nature s Beauty During the month of January and February, the Artists' Place Gallery at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer will be exhibiting the works of photographer Julie Andel. Julie Andel is a professional photographer, Owner of Andel Photography and a freelance photographer with the University of South Alabama. "Photography has always been a form of meditation to me. I work with my camera and I lose myself in creating an image. Focusing only on what s viewed through my lens and the rest of the distractions seem to slip away. My creative, artistic side drew me to photography and my goal is to channel that artistry into my photos. I travel to many state parks and hiking trails where I take the majority of my nature shots. I enjoy working with landscapes, nature, and floral themes. I want others to appreciate the beauty that I capture with my camera. If my photos transport the viewer then I feel I ve done my job as a photographer. I like to take photos of pretty much anything and everything, but my passion is nature.
