3 Announcements: Please join us in the Parish House for Irene Fawole's "To God be the Glory" 65th birthday reception. This is a traditional celebration in Nigeria that includes dancing. Please bring a finger food to share. SENIOR WARDEN REPORT 1. For the last week in October, attendance was 72 and offerings of Plate and Pledge was $5, What wonderful stewardship! You have listened to God and have placed your trust in Him. He will bless us with increased growth, more outreach, your generous stewardship is helping to erase our deficit. Thank you all so much for all you are doing. I am humbled by everyone doing His work. We ARE one family and we are Church! You proudly and willingly step up to do the ministries that are so important to the community and Redeemer. I could not be prouder. 2. We have more new congregants that have joined us in the last few weeks. Please greet them and make them feel a part of our family. 3. The Vestry nominations deadline will be closed this Sunday. There have been several congregants who have expressed a desire to be considered for the Vestry, and some who wanted more information about the duties of the Vestry. Should you have any questions, please call me at or I will try my best to answer your question(s). 4. We had 140 people in attendance for Lynn s celebration of life last Thursday. Many more were present for the viewing. Over 100 stayed for the reception after the graveside service. Our parking facilities were completely full. We expect more events with larger attendance and may need to have additional parking to the right of the entrance. Trees have been marked for removal should this be a necessity. We expect a good turn-out for the December Extravaganza. Should we need additional parking, the Vestry will determine this need and vote accordingly. 5. I have not heard from Dwight C. Babcock concerning the Lily Foundation grant. Dwight mentioned days and this Friday will be the fourteenth day. Should I not hear from him tomorrow, I will call him concerning the status of the grant. The grant money is in Redeemer s name and once the t s are crossed and the i s are dotted, a check will be sent to Redeemer and award placed in Pastor Joy s salary line. 6. The nursery room door and some of the baseboard painting was done in the Narthex. The baseboard and trim, and the doors to the Ladies and Men s bathroom as well as the office door should be done shortly. 7. Smoot Major has sanded and will paint the outside of the Church exit door and step rails. He will also sand and repaint the front church doors. He also found and blocked a squirrel hole on the Cody side of the Church office. As far as we know, all the little squirrels have been caught and released back into the woods behind the Parish Hall. 8. All the locks on the Church doors and now working properly. All exterior lights have been replaced. 9. Painting and caulking can now begin in the nursery. A few items must be removed to all complete access to the room. Ceiling lights and the

4 children s bathroom light fixtures will be replaced/repaired. 10. Many people have noticed, the sidewalks in front of the Parish Hall, and the small island under the roof overhang, have yellow warning stripes. These yellow lines are warnings indicating a step down from the sidewalk. These were painted by Billy Miles. He painted the curb by the fire hydrant red, and will also repaint the handicapped stipes in front of the Parish Hall and in front of the Church. 11. Project Resource, a workshop on Stewardship, is this Saturday at St. Paul s Episcopal Church from 10 am 2 pm. All materials and lunch will be provided. The $20 fee has been paid and this allows as many interested parishioners to attend. I am attending and if you are interested, please call me and maybe we can carpool from Redeemer. Posts from our Priest Happy All Saints/Souls Day! We will celebrate All Saints on next Sunday and in doing so remember all those who have gone before us and have left with us a legacy of faith and ministry for us to continue and cherish. I hope you will join us for this special service. As I reflected on the saints and dear souls in my life, I realized quickly that they have not necessarily been people who have worked for the church or had anything to do with it. They were/are people who sometimes lived on the margins, knew how to speak their mind, were passionate about a cause, perhaps were even irritating or challenging but called me and others out of our navel-gazing to a view of a bigger and broader world. I am sure, if you think about it, that you can recall persons like this in your life whether past or present. There are saints among us now! They are the ones who are there for you when others recede into the shadows; they are people who cook meals and bring nourishment in times of anguish; they are people who make phone calls and check on others to let them know they are not alone; they are people who fight quiet battles and still show up and choose to love and help others; they are those who choose to embrace the moment and shine the light of authenticity in varied and powerful ways. If you look around I think you will agree that we are blessed with many saints here at Redeemer. Today we lift up all of those saints and souls who have handed on a "heritage" to us; for all of those who left this world too soon but left a large imprint on our souls; for all of those who inspire and challenge us right now to live our faith in bolder and more courageous ways...for all the saints and dear souls, O Lord, we give thanks! 5 Meet in the parish house at 11AM to watch the DVD series "Embracing Interfaith Cooperation." Bring a lunch or something to share and join in the conversation. We are usually finished by 12:30PM. All are welcome...redeemer members and beyond The Food Pantry: We need Soup, Cereal, Beef Stew, canned Black Beans, Pork & Beans, Chili. Also, Peanut Butter, Jelly, any canned beans, Mac & Cheese, Canned fruit & vegetables, Canned tuna, chicken, spam. We are sending the contributions to Baton Rouge for the people who are still in dire need of many things. We are collecting signatures for the semi-annual college care packages sent to our college students, to let them know that we are thinking of them as they prepare for final exams. The cards will be on a table in the parish house for the next several weeks. The students will also appreciate any small food/snack item or school supply that you wish to contribute for the boxes...such as popcorn, hot cocoa/tea, pens, post-it notes, candies, gum, etc. There is a box next to the cards where you can drop off donations. Many thanks to all who contribute to the Community Café. We thank you so much for your support. This ministry has been led by Valerie Wilhelm and Lella Lowe for many years, and they would welcome additional people who are interested in

6 coordinating meal prep and delivery. If you feel called to help lead this ministry, please contact either Lella or Val. forward to friends and family, so please don't hesitate to ask them to place their orders with us! The November order will be due on November 7 and the December order (last one before Christmas) will be due December 5. We need vendors! We have about 20 spots for vendors. Only $25 and the profits they make are theirs. If you know someone who sells their crafts, sells Tupperware, Pampered Chef, etc. and would like to buy a booth for Saturday, December 3 contact Carrie Kwitzky (kwitzkyc@gmail.com) or John Hicks (jhbears2002@yahoo.com) if you would like to help with Christmas Extravaganza. If you have items to donate to the Sugar Plum Shoppe, where kids can buy $1.00 items for their family and friends see Lesley Hicks, Carrie or John. Please share this with as many people that you can. In addition to the Tuesday afternoon Redeemer) we are adding an evening meeting at 7:00 pm at Redeemer. We will be meeting in the church library. I am very excited to see the addition of a second group and pray that many more will be ministered to as a result. Please leash or restrain your pets. If you cannot bring your pet, bring a photo, toy, etc. Join us in recognizing our special companions as we remember St. Francis & his ministry to animals. All Saints Day is November 6. There is a sign up sheet for you to list the names of those saints who have died. Their names will be read during the service. CONFERENCE FOR SMALL CONGREGATIONS: November 5 th at St. Mary's, Milton. (It was an excellent conference last year.). See Lois if you are interested in going. 46th Annual Diocesan Convention will be February 23-25, 2017 at Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Dothan, Alabama. The initial preconvention packet has been received. We need to elect 3 Lay Delegates & 3 Alternates 60 days prior to the date of the convention. Registration will open 11/7/2016.
