Antonius, C. Ogrin, C. Zaverl C. Horwitz, S. Dobbins EUCHARISTIC ADORATION The Eucharist is the center and goal of our lives as Catholics. We are called to become that which we celebrate and receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Eucharistic Adoration is scheduled to begin in September. It will take place every Monday after the 8 am Mass through the day and night and end on Tuesday before the 8 am Mass. We need three parishioners to commit to an hour slot for the 24 hours. Needed are a total of 72 people. This is a great opportunity for our parish, for our families. Please consider signing-up for an hour. God will bless you and your family abundantly. You can find the sign-up sheets in the church vestibule. WORDS FROM OUR PASTOR! The dog days of summer are here. I did not know that Hinckley had tropical weather. But with this heat I am not sure. I do know that this area is in the secondary Snow Belt, so I cannot wait until winter. With that said So far the patch of the roof where the leak occurred before my arrival is still intact. The finance council is looking at a multitude of options on what the plan is moving forward on the replacement of the roof. I will keep you informed of the progress. Beginning in nine weeks (September 10 th ) there will be weekday 8:00 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and the first Saturday of the month. Eucharistic Adoration will begin on Monday September 10 th from after the 8:00 AM Mass until 7:45 AM on Tuesday. We need at least 72 people (3 people per hour) to cover all the hours in order for this to transpire. People are especially needed after 9:00 PM until Tuesday morning. If we are unable to get the numbers the odds are that Adoration will end before 10:00 PM. Have a Blessed Week! Fr. Bill MUSIC MINISTRY NOTES If you plant honesty, you will reap trust. The Adult Choir would like to "plant" a few new members in its ranks this summer new members are invited to join our ranks as we "grow" closer to God and each other through song, serving our parish at the 11am Mass on Sunday morning. If you have a pleasant voice, and sing well with others, the Adult Choir is now welcoming new members through the end of September. Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm in the church. Attendance at every rehearsal in not mandatory but sure helps learning the music! Thank you to all the choir members that attend weekly rehearsals throughout the summer to get a "jump start" on the Advent and Christmas music! This opposition did not stop Jesus nor should it stop us. PAINT-N-POP FUNDRAISER Looking for an excuse to get together with friends? Expand your horizons? Consider attending a Paint-N- Pop! painting class. You are invited to a group-style class that features instructional art and lots of fun. Bring your own snacks and (adult) beverages to enhance the party. The next class is July 26 at 7 pm at Olde 8 Studio, 8562 Olde 8 Rd., Northfield. All proceeds benefit Cleveland Performing Arts Ministries production of the musical passion play Tetelestai. Cost is $35/person and includes canvas, paint, instruction, coffee and water. TRADITIONAL SLOVAK PICNIC The American Slovak Zemplin Club is holding is annual picnic on Sunday, July 15. It will be held at the American Slovak Sokol Camp, 2069 Royalwood Rd., (between State and Broadview Rds.) Broadview Heights. Festivities begin at noon and continue until 8 pm. Traditional specialties as well as American picnic favorites will be featured throughout the day. Music for dancing and listening will be provided. The popular Slovak beer, Zlaty Bazant, will also be available. There will be 50/50 raffle boards, along with a big playground for the kids, corn hole games, and other activities. Admission is FREE. 4 July 8, 2018 Page 4 FIRST STEP PROGRAM The Diocese offers the First Step Program to answer questions regarding the Church and divorce. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend: Deepen knowledge of the Church s teaching on marriage; Learn about the Church s ministry to the divorced/ separated in the Diocese; Hear about the annulment process and how to submit a case; Discover a path to healing after divorce in order to strengthen and/or renew a relationship with God and the Church. In any endeavor, taking the first step is always the most difficult. The First Step Program helps individuals to navigate the path of healing and closure. Please refer to the Tribunal website ( for testimonials about the program from past participants. The First Step Program will be held at St. Ambrose Parish, Brunswick on Tuesday, September 18, at 7 pm. For more information check our website at or call x4000. Note that the Diocese of Cleveland no longer requires any fees for this process. CHURCH UPDATES Please help us keep our records current. If any of the following have occurred recently, please notify the church office. If you ve recently had a child, and the baptism took part at another parish. If a child has moved out of your home and is living on their own. Encourage them to register at the parish where they are currently living. If you are a 24 years or older, supporting yourself and living within our parish boundaries, you should be registered independently in our parish. If a son or daughter was married at another parish. They should register as a couple at the parish near their residence. If you have changed your phone number; especially if you no longer have a land line and use only a cell phone. This information is very helpful to us and you, particularly with adult children requesting letters to be Godparents for Baptism or sponsors for Confirmation. Any adult child that is not registered on their own must register and then wait three months before getting a sponsor letter. Go to the Madonna. Love her! Always say the rosary. Say it well. An intelligent and devout student, he was educated at the cathedral school in Hildesheim by Wolfgang of Regensburg who himself was also canonized a saint. A year after Wolfgang s death Henry followed his father as Duke of Bavaria in 995, and in 1002 he became the king of Germany. His accession to the throne was supported by the Church, and in turn, Henry encouraged the German bishops to reform practices in the Church in accordance with Canon Law. Henry s brother rebelled against Henry s power and Henry was forced to defeat him on the battlefield. However, he forgave his brother and reconciled with him. Henry also had to take action against an Italian nobleman who set himself up as a rival king. In these and other confrontations Henry acted with justice and humility, always seeking the greater glory of God. In 1014 Pope Benedict VIII crowned him as head of the Holy Roman Empire. Henry married Cunigunde of Luxembourg, who also was canonized a saint, but they did not have any children. Not having an heir, both were patrons of the churches and monasteries, and they were generous to the poor. After Cunigunde s death, Henry applied to a monastery, but was rejected, being told he should continue God s work for him in the world. During the last years of his life Henry suffered from a serious illness and also from an ailment that crippled his left leg, but he sought comfort in prayer. He died on July 13, He was canonized by Pope Blessed Eugene III in His memorial is July 13.
