First Communion/Confirmation: For information on preparation call the parish office. Matrimony: Couples wishing to marry must make arrangements with the parish office six months in advance of the wedding. Anointing of the Sick or Communion to the Sick: Please call the parish office in case of emergency, serious illness, hospitalization, or long-term incapacity. Ministry to the Divorced, Separated and Parishioners with civil marriages: Please call the parish office if you wish to pursue an annulment or you are civilly married and would like to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage in the Catholic Church. Sacred Heart Outreach, as members of the family of God, are committed to visiting members of our Parish community who are confined to their homes, ill, desirous of friendship, seniors, and other people referred by both the pastor and congregation. Parish Gift Shop: Our gift shop is located in the foyer of Sacred Heart Church. It is open after the 4:30 Saturday evening Mass and the 10:00 and 12:00 Masses on morning. Music Ministry: Anyone wishing to be a song leader, a member of the choir or play a musical instrument at Mass, is encouraged to contact our Music Coordinator, Curt Nelson at Martha's Ministry: The Martha s Ministry group prepares and serves a meal in the parish hall after funerals in our parish. To become a member, please contact Mona Trafton at Widowed Group: The Widowed Group meets on the 3rd Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall. We go to a local restaurant for lunch after each meeting. For more information, please call the parish office. First Eucharist: First Eucharist is celebrated for baptized children in second grade and older. There is a two year requirement for enrollment in our Faith Formation Program in order to receive First Eucharist. Confirmation: The Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year preparation process through our Parish Faith Formation Program for children 7 th grade and older. For adults, a preparation process is available to receive Confirmation with the Bishop during the Easter Season. Ministers of Care: Persons who are ill, either in the hospital or at home are asked to have a family member contact the parish so that a visit can be made by the priest or a Eucharistic minister. Stewardship: Stewardship is an expression of gratitude to God. Every household is prayerfully asked to consider a regular weekly or monthly offering to the collection for the operation of our parish. The ideal is a tithe, or percentage of the family income, designated as a gift in return for all God s blessings. A packet of Offertory envelopes is mailed to each family for their use each month. There are also occasional second collections for charitable, educational and building and maintenance purposes. These additional offerings help to fund needed programs in these areas. Vamos después de cada reunión a un restaurante a almorzar. Para mas información llamar a la Parroquia. Primera Comunión: La primera comunión es para niños bautizados y que estén cursando el Segundo grado escolar o mayores. Se debe cumplir con 2 anos de formación de fe. Confirmación: El sacramento de la confirmación requiere dos anos de preparación en nuestro programa parroquial, para niños en el séptimo grado o mayores. Para los adultos hay un proceso disponible para recibir la confirmación con el Obispo en el tiempo de Pascua. Ministerio de los enfermos: Personas que Estan enfermas en el hospital o en casa, se pide que un miembro de la familia se comuniqué con la oficina para que el enfermo sea visitado por el sacerdote o por un ministro de la Eucaristía. Administración: Administración es una forma de gratitud a Dios. Cada familia es invocada a considerar que regularmente ya sea seminal o mensualmente ofrecer a donativo para la operación de nuestra parroquia. La idea es que aportemos un porcentaje de nuestros ingresos, designado como un regalo en agradecimiento por las bendiciones de Dios. Un paquete de sobres es enviado a cada familia, para ser usados cada mes. Hay veces en que hay una segunda colecta, como caridades, educación, y mantenimiento de nuestra parroquia. HELP NEEDED Help Help Help. We are in need of someone to coordinate the 2019 Sacred Heart Crab Feed scheduled for Saturday, February 9th. We already have in place many volunteers who are in charge of different areas of the Crab Feed, ie: bar, kitchen, volunteers, raffle, etc. We just need someone who will oversee the entire Crab Feed. In responding yes you may find that you are doing something special for yourself as well as your faith community. SUNDAY EUCHARIST Finding Our Place: Why do we fill up the seats in church from the back to the front? Maybe it s piety: We sit in the back because, aware of our many failings, we don t feel worthy to draw near. Maybe it s culture: We sit in the back because our mothers taught us never to claim the best seats or make ourselves the center of attention. Maybe it s selfish: We want to be able to skip out early. Whatever the reason, it causes a practical problem: The front seats are always empty, creating a gulf between the Lord s table and the Lord s people. And latecomers stand in the back rather than march up to the front where everyone can see that they re late. Let s show some hospitality! Let s fill the church up from the front to the back, leaving the back rows for those who come later or late. And let s fill each row from the center: If you re the first one in a row, don t hug the end (unless you re a minister and will need to get in and out). Move into the middle so that others may come and sit beside you. Filling in the front seats first isn t proud or arrogant. It s part of the ministry of hospitality that all of us who are baptized are called to exercise. It s a simple act of kindness that helps the church to gather better around its Lord, so that we may give God thanks and praise. We Bow Before You How do we show reverence and love for Christ when we enter and leave the church? First, we greet each other as we would greet Christ. ( Where two or three of you gather, there I am. ) Then, we bow to the altar. Why? On this altar we place our bread and wine that becomes Christ s body and blood: This is the place of sacrifice. At this altar we sit with God to dine in eternity: This is Easter s banquet table. The altar of the Most High is this table in our midst the table of every grace and blessing! And more. The Rite of Dedication of an Altar (#4) says, Because it is at the altar that the memorial of the Lord is celebrated and his body and blood given to the people, the church s writers see in the altar a sign of Christ himself hence they affirm: The altar is Christ. Christ is the Anointed One, baptized, anointed with the Holy Spirit and robed in light. We are Christians, anointed ones, baptized, anointed with chrism and robed in white. Just like Christ, just like us, our altar was washed, anointed and robed. On its dedication day, it was sprinkled with holy water. The bishop rubbed holy chrism into its top, and ministers robed it in a white cloth. So let s bow to Christ at the altar before taking our places. And let s bow again when we depart. Christ the offering. Christ the meal. Christ the altar of sacrifice. Christ the paschal banquet table. Holy Christ, we bow before you!

Jeremiah 23:1-6; Ephesians 2:13-18; Mark 6:30-34 EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP I recently got into an Uber car for a ride to the airport. I like talking with drivers if I sense they are open to it. On this particular day, the driver was very talkative and told me about how he was an inventor. He had several patents and was about to sell one of his inventions for a ton of money. We had a wonderful conversation, and he was such a warm and interesting person. I asked him why, with his good fortune with inventions and all the work he was doing aside from Uber, he was still driving. He smiled and said, There are still some people I haven t met yet. I never know who is going to get into my car next.. What an amazing answer! Too often we live our lives in semi-solitude, walking around with blinders on so we don't make eye contact. We have our family and friends, but we don t get up each day wondering with excitement who we will meet that day. God puts people into our path all the time. Maybe we need them or they need us. But we do not walk through this world alone. If we choose to not be mindful of who is in our midst, we miss the chance to receive whatever gifts they may have to give. In the same vein, they miss out on what we have to share with them if we stay closed and quiet. Pay attention to those around you. God may come to you in the words of a friend, the request of a homeless man, or in the wisdom of an Uber driver. Tracy Welliver, MTS WEEKLY REFLECTIONS GOSPEL MEDITATION FOR JULY 15TH He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two. This we read the first sending of the Apostles to preach, teach, and heal. For many of us, it can be easy to think we just don t have enough to be disciples and evangelists ourselves. We don t have enough education and training. We don' have enough experience talking to people about Jesus. We don't pray enough. We don t have enough faith. If you look at the Apostles in today s Gospel reading, they didn t have much either. No food, no sack, no money in their belts. They didn t plan out their itinerary or book their lodging in advance. From what we know of the Apostles, they were not the religiously trained and educated ones. They were fisherman, tax collectors, and political activists. But what does being a fisherman require? Someone like Peter needed a strong work ethic to rise at strange hours. He needed patient calm to wait for the catch. Once ashore, he needed a savvy mind to fetch a good price for his labors. As Peter became a fisher of men, he would need diligence to persevere through the hard journeys, long days, and persecution that awaited him. He would need patient calm with those who disagreed with him. As the leader of the Apostles, he would need a savvy mind to navigate challenges facing the early Church. From one perspective, Peter has nothing to offer the mission of Jesus. Thinking more creatively, one can see that joined with faith and love perhaps Peter had everything he needed. Jesus sends you as well. As you take stock of your own talents, consider how they might be offered as a gift to others. Maybe you already have more than enough.
